Local Pick-Up Only Listings Should Require Buyers To Contact The Seller Before They Can Buy

Not that I expect eBay to ever do right by sellers and make this change but if an item is listed for local pick-up only there should be a step in place that requires potential buyers to contact the seller before they can make the purchase and verify that they are able/willing to pick up the item. This would ensure that a buyer knows they'll have to pick the item up and prevent sellers from loosing $0.30 every time we have a cancel one of these transactions because the buyer didn't take the time to completely read the listing. Sadly though eBay only cares about keeping it's stockholders happy, even if it takes ripping off sellers $0.30 at a time.

With Auctions and Best Offers, you do have the opportunity to remind customers that this is a local pickup only sale and give the dimensions and weight of the item.

Sometimes the seller has to take responsibility into his own hands.

Of course, it would also be an option (a stupid one, but an option) to add some wildly overpriced shipping fee to the listing. If it isn't paid, because the item is picked up, you don't have to pay the shipping FVF.
