Listing with bids - ideally would want to alter Title - advice pls

Hi,

I've got an auction on a pair of trousers and I'd ideally like to add a word to clarify the fabric type. The actual fabric is a lite version of the fabric I've stated. I've already added a section in the description to make clearer and also contacted the one and only bidder so far clarifying this. There are currently 20 people watching the item.

Is there anything else experienced sellers would recommend doing?

I will cancel the auction if I have to but that's my last resort.

Many thanks for any advice.

FM

You cannot change a listing once it has a bid.  You can only add to it.

IMO if this is a different (and maybe less expensive) version of the fabric, I would cancel and relist.

I know you are hoing to lose the bid and the watchers, but many people do not read through an auction.  So the winner may be upset it is not what she read in the title.

Is it true you can add to the description of an auction with bids but can`t alter the listing in any other way? I haven`t tried in a very long time

If the auction has bids but has more than 12 hours left, you can't change anything (text, images, etc.) but you can ADD to the description, images, listing upgrades (subtitle, etc.).  So the options here are (1) add the info as a subtitle; it won't be searchable but people will see it on your listing; (2) add to the Description (already done);  (3) end the listing and relist with a better title and description; or (4) just let it run, then work things out with the auction winner, like offering to cancel the transaction or give a partial refund..

When there is a bid - You can add to a listing, but you cannot edit it.

Thanks a lot for this, I like the idea of adding a subtitle but don't see how to do this in the revise listing page, any ideas on this? Thanks again.

Probably need to use advanced listing tool to add it, not quick form.
