Hi I recently had an item on a buy it now auction. Before my listings I always explore the shipping options and costs. For this particular auction I offered free shipping using fedex smartpost and didn't give any other options. I sold one and when I went to print the shipping label it had changed to USPS and it was almost $9. more than my notes. I tried to change it back to Fedex and it wouldn't allow me to. I notified the buyer that for some reason it wasn't letting me use fedex smartpost and i'm assuming it his because of his po box. The buyer is from Puerto Rico so I figured the difference between USPS and Fedex smartpost to Florida and it was almost $9.00. I informed the buyer of this.
My question is if I offer free shipping FEDEX SMARTPOST due I have to honor USPS also even if I didn't showit as an option

Smartpost would go to a PO box, no problem.
But PR is considered international for Fed Ex and UPS, and domestic for USPS, so that's probably why you couldn't use smartpost.

SP parcels may be able to go to a PO box, but the software interfacing eBay to FedEx (and whoever programmed it) are not smart enough to take that into consideration.
I had an item recently for which the buyer paid for SmartPost, but when I went to buy the label, it was switched to USPS Priority, and would not let me switch back to SmartPost with the error stating that FedEx packages can't go to PO boxes.
