Listing removed after best offer made?

Made a BO on a car part I needed.

Go to check it this am, and the listing was ended by the seller.

So I inquired why, they claim it "was damaged, and they always check before accepting an offer".

1. Why would they list something and not check if it's damaged?

2. I guess if I paid full price, they would of shipped me a damaged part?

Not really buying their answer...

The seller can end a listing at any time, for any reason. They aren't required to explain the reaosn, but they did, so that was a courteous thing to do.

What was the reason used for the cancellation.

If anything but OOS call ebay and set them straight.

This resulted in a defect.  Just a few of these can get a seller banned.

The seller didn't cancel a transaction. The ended the listing early, rather than accepting an offer.

Maybe the seller took a look at the item again to see if your offer would work and then discovered the damage.  

I know I have found flaws on listed items and I think I'm meticulous.  It's usually before they sell, but sometimes it's prompted by something a buyer asked.  It's worse when it's after they sell.

Making a BO has no effect on the seller's right to end a listing early.

You are looking at this as if the seller did something wrong, when they were actually doing the right thing.  Humans make mistakes from time to time.  Honest mistakes.  This seller discovered their mistake and did the right thing to minimize any problem they may arrise from it.  You are assuming this seller would have knowingly sold you a damaged part when their actions say quite the opposite.

It's possible that eBay added Best Offer to the item without seller's consent, he realized it and ended the listing.

Maybe.  If the seller is using the Quick Listing form.  IDK I suppose it is possible, but what would that have to do with anything.  If they didn't like the offer, they could just say NO.
