Listing promotions EXTENDED through July

Here is some GREAT news for many sellers!!!!  Ebay just announced the following.

On March 17, 2020, we announced all eBay Store subscribers could list up to 50,000 additional fixed price listings free in March and up to 50,000 additional listings free in April in order to test new inventory that buyers may be searching for in the challenging COVID-19 environment. Then on April 2, 2020, we announced that sellers who do not currently have a store would receive 200 additional fixed price and auction listings free to list and sell more during this challenging time.

These promotions were well received by our sellers  and many of you shared that you’d like to have more time to take full advantage of the free listings. Effective immediately, to make sure you have ample time to bring on new inventory, we’re extending both of these offers through July 31. If you are a store subscriber, you will have 50,000 additional free listings per month for May, June, and July once activated.  All other sellers will receive 200 additional fixed price and auction listings for May, June, and July once the promotion is activated.

If you have already activated the promotion, you do not need to take any action. Your promotion will automatically be extended through July.

If you are a Store subscriber and have not activated the promotion, you can find complete details and activate the promotion on the promotion page.

For other sellers who don’t currently have a store, if you have not activated the promotion, you can find details and activate on the promotion page.

Stay up to date on eBay COVID-19 protections and support in the COVID-19 Community Hub.

As always, thank you for selling on eBay.

It costs eBay server space, bandwidth, tech support hours, customer service hours ...

I'm not saying the increase in sales won't offset those costs, but it does cost eBay to offer free listings.

I'm pretty sure the answer is yes because I don't see exclusions in the text, but does the 50k promotion apply to starter stores on a month-to-month subscription? Does anybody know for sure?

The 50,000 promo is for store owners ONLY.  The store level or whether or not you have a yearly subscription is not called out in the specifics of the promo.

Yep, that's exactly what I said above. eBay didn't call out exclusions for starter stores or monthly subscribers. With eBay you never know though so I was asking hoping that somebody that has a monthly starter store could confirm if they got the 50k. My GF was thinking of doing a monthly starter to build up her account during the promo.

You can see the specifics in your Seller Hub in the Promo box.  There is a blue link below each promo that gives you the particulars on that promo.

Thanks, I think everybody knows that.

No, some do not.  I posted that on another thread because there were some that did not know they could find that information there.  So I simply posted it here as well in the hopes it would help someone.

I followed the instructions and activated prior to relisting still got charged

The help link the eBay rep suggests is not specific enough to get a straight answer.

I would like to have this corrected, bu unable to get to the right CS Billing person via eBay site.

Very frustrating and TOO much double talk to get a confirmed answer.

Are you talking about the 50,000 listings?  Or the 200 listings?

Seems there has been discussion regarding both , but my main resolve attempt is for the 200

Can you shed light on that is it FREE for only NEW items not advertised before, or some have mentioned an 8 time usage than a charge imposed?

eBay always hides behind a shroud never good clarity in their statements..clear as mud!

You aren't wrong, but in the grand scheme of things it is pennies at best.  If done right I don't see why an active listing would even cost them a penny a month.  I would host my own listings if I could do it to avoid listing fees 😛

I flew through both of my 200's because of renewals.

I don't know if they fixed the glitch that was grabbing the 8 times fee ones or not.  @Anonymous  was looking into that I think, but I don't know if they ever fixed it or not.

I hate photobucket right now... PS Answers given years ago may or may not be current now, please check with current posters to the boards to see if the information is still relevant.

What do you mean it "costs them nothing"?  If that were true then seller's wouldn't be asking for more free listings.  Granted there are sellers that will post more than they would normally post because of free listings, but there are plenty of sellers out there that actually do pay for listing things to the site that won't have to pay those fees for the next couple of months.  Which in turn means that it is costing Ebay money.

Not only does Ebay lose the listing fees for those that would normally be paying some, Ebay has the added burden to manage  a huge amount of listings they likely would not have had otherwise.  All that costs real money to Ebay.  While they are a service based company, there still are real costs to do that.

Whoops I posted before I saw your post, which is better than the way I worded it anyway.  Thank you.

50,000 pennies would be $500.00 per seller that uses up those listing x 4 months April Through July = $2,000.

Granted not to many sellers will ever even come close to using up all those freebies.  But lets just say they use 1,000 of them.  That would be [with your penny number] 1,000 x .01 = $10.00 x 4 months = $40.00 x 3,000,000 million sellers [there are 6.7 million active US sellers] = OMG way too much money.

So it is likely that the cost is a fraction of a penny per item and still it costs a real money for Ebay to manage and service all these listings.

Was glad to see this.

I was holding off on using any more than I have because I was going to need to end them to avoid the GTC renewal.
