Listing does not show in search results - Promoted listing

My item, which I listed more than 24hrs ago, does not show up in any search results. The item is a glass mirror **bleep** sculpture (https://www.ebay.com/itm/386139854821) and I have paid to promote it.

If it does not meet ebay standards (because it is a **bleep** sculpture), then they should not have allowed me to pay to promote it, and they should not take my money to promote something they are not promoting.

It doesn't even show up in the search results, period.

Am I missing something?

Although my point stands. If ebay takes my money to promote it they should promote it.  But not say my listing can't be promoted but get paid for promoting it anyway.

In case, they haven't notified me of an issue with this listing, I just so happened to be checking it myself.

You may have listed it more than 24 hours ago but you recently REVISED the listing which is probably why it's not showing. Give it time.

@esalesforce
He makes a good point.  Every time you revise the listing it goes to the end of the line for indexing.

It never showed up period, even before I revised it.  I revised it to see if that would change.

Regardless, it should show up somewhere, even at the bottom of the listing, but it does not show up anywhere. It has now been 24 hours since I revised it, and it does not show up in any search results, even when you type the exact title of the listing.

It has since been 24 hours, and it does not show up in any search results.  This listing has never showed up in any search results, even at the bottom.

The bleeped word in the title is the reason it won't index.

eBay doesn't allow some words in titles or listings. It has always been the case, that if a listing has one of these words, then it will never be indexed or searchable. That was discovered more than 20 years ago. Back then, the usual problem and best example was a typo, for example if a seller left the letter "r" out of the word "shirt".

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/member-behavior-policies/threats-offensive-language-policy?id=425...

The policy allows profanity in music listings, if the word is part of the official title. But even so, the word should not be included in the title of the listing because it usually/sometimes/may prevent the listing from being indexed and becoming searchable.

It's possible that your sculpture may be allowed if you follow this (no guarantees) from the link given above:

  • Novelty items (shirts, stickers, etc.) containing profanity may be listed if the profane word is blurred out completely in any images, and the majority of the word has been replaced with asterisks in the item listing

This still doesn't address the point of my original post. If I use words in my listing that ebay does not allow, then they should not accept money from me to promote the listing.

Instead, they should notify me that, hey, your listing contains words that we don't allow, so we can't accept money to promote your item, since we aren't going include your item in our search results, and we certainly aren't going to promote it.

This doesn't address the fact that ebay took money from me to promote my item. If they won't even allow it to appear in search results, surely they aren't going to promote it, so why did they ask for money to promote it?

All of this is without notifying me that there is any problem of any kind. It's only because of my efforts did I realize it's not showing up in promotions or search results.

eBay has over 1.5 billion listings at any given time.

The bots parsed out your listing. No human at eBay will ever intervene to inform you of your listing not posting or to refund anything you may have paid in PL fees. It is not even impostant enough for eBay to write a script to have a bot send a message.

How much money did you actually lose on this endeavor? Was there a charge noted in your transactions under payments?

I understand that no human or bot informed me of my listing not posting.  And that they don't have a procedure to do so.  I get that.  That's the whole reason I complained, because they should.

Look, ebay determined somehow that my listing would not actually be listed.  That's a fact, because it was not listed.  So, they have a way to determine that.  I know you guys are smart enough to understand this.

Now, if they ask for money from the seller to promote a listing (which the seller pays at the time of listing), that money should be refunded to the seller when their systems determine that the listing will not actually be listed (whatever the reason may be).

Yes, I was charged for this transaction. That's the whole point!  How much money I actually lost on this endeavor is not the point.  I don't believe you aren't smart enough to to follow what I'm saying.  How much money was lost? Was it worth my time to complain? Do I understand that ebay has other priorities than to address this? Do I know how many listings ebay has to keep track of at any one time? You're confused if you think these questions have any bearing on my complaint.
