Listing Removal

My eBay listing was removed for a "hand purifier". The email stated it was removed for price gouging. The item was listed at retail. Upon confronting eBay, they stated it wasn't removed for price gouging but because it is a restricted item. Then I received another email stating it was for price gouging. I searched the listings and found several of the SAME item listed that were actually price gouging. I was told if I found such items eBay would act quickly and remove them. They have remained listed and no action was taken. If the items are restricted and NONE are being allowed to be listed, why are they listed and at 2, 3, 4 or more times the retail price? I have this all documented. Anyone else with similar issues? How do we hold eBay accountable. I have filed BBB and FTC complaints and am preparing to go to the media. See a few examples posts.

You are not an authorized seller... Do not relist the items. Find somewhere else to sell them.

I couldn't help but notice you selectively skipped over highlighting the most pertinent information in that eBay correspondence:

Ever how they word the violation a policy was made to not allow certain items to prevent price gouging so one can actually say your item was in violation of the price gouging policy.

eBay stated some time ago that only specific sellers would be allowed to sell those products that were banned.

"we are proactively selecting a limited number of sellers to provide certain types of inventory and there is not currently an application process for becoming approved to sell these items"

eBay's site, eBay's rules, eBay's policies of which you agree to as a seller.

eBay does not have to justify their actions, their decisions. eBay has designated who may sell those products and that's it = eBay's decision stands and you are not authorized to sell those products.

How do we hold eBay accountable. I have filed BBB and FTC complaints and am preparing to go to the media.

You really can't hold them accountable, because when you agreed to sell on eBay you agreed to their terms.

Here is what the User Agreement says:

"We reserve the right to refuse, modify, or terminate all or part of our Services to anyone for any reason at our discretion"

I have filed BBB and FTC complaints and am preparing to go to the media.

Well the BBB is a franchise business (and a for profit one)  set up by LOCAL businesses to mediate problems with LOCAL customers.

No authority, any more than any mediator.

(Full disclosure, when we had a B&M shop, we were members of our local BBB. It was excellent advertising at a very low price. Many collectors checked the BBB website before contacting us.)

But I would encourage you to go to the media and watch what fun they have with  those they decide are "the bad guys" in a situation, for example someone selling masks at a price the reporter decides is higher than she would like to pay.

And neither are these others who list. The point is, they remove some and not others in violation. I agree that if it's banned it's banned, but banned for all, not some.

And that is fine, as long as they are consistent. They are not.

Not skipped. The pertinent part is stating it was removed for price gouging, which the listing was not. And the fact that they are not consistent and have several others that ARE gouging left up.

The ones that aren't "special sellers" get pulled... we know loads of them are being pulled because they keep coming to the boards to complain about their listings getting pulled.  And have been for over a month.  There are some threads that have passed the 400 mark ABOUT these very things.

You find them, and it ticks you off, report them, it helps eBay find them faster.

You find them, and it doesn't tick you off ignore them, some one else will either find them, report them, or the bots will find them, and get em pulled.

WE have no idea how many sellers are getting banned over this, the ones that come to the boards after the first letter OR the 3 day vacation are learning the lesson and not relisting them.

eBay doesn't have to be FAIR... their sandbox, their rules... says so in that handy User Agreement you agreed to when you signed up for eBay.
