Listing Inventory Discrepancy

Recently I listed an item and it sold basically immediately. It is over $350 and it costs a good amount to ship. The item has no returns/refunds. However when my supplier sold it to me it was labeled as new with a filter system that separately costs about $60-80 though it is available. I was going to double check the specs and pack it to ship and there was a rattling noise so I opened it to make sure there wasnt an issue. Lo and behold it was a new but open box item actually that was resealed to me and its missing the filter system. The item itself is out of stock even from the manufacturer at the moment but the filters are available. I have tried to contact the buyer several times on ebay messages in addition to on their listed phone number to no response at the moment. I dont doubt I could probably sell this item for the exact same price or higher with the correct listing details considering there arent many of these machine available anywhere and it sold in less than 12 hours of listing it at the ask. That said I need to print the shipping label by tomorrow for the ebay metrics or it could be an issue. Am I supposed to just cancel and relist the item with the correct specifics or what is the deal with this?

Yes, you should cancel due to out of stock. To start with this platform offers a money back guarantee to all buyers which trumps your own policies. You have inadvertently sold an item that is not described correctly, unfortunate but it happens. Your buyer would have every right to return this as INAD and you would be forced to accept, regardless of you stating no returns. You are bound to the policies for this platform by selling here. 

 

Your best bet is to cancel for out of stock to avoid losing your item. You can then relist it accurately and as you said, sell it quickly to someone else, but with a correct full description. Best of luck to you....

Yes, you should cancel due to out of stock. To start with this platform offers a money back guarantee to all buyers which trumps your own policies. You have inadvertently sold an item that is not described correctly, unfortunate but it happens. Your buyer would have every right to return this as INAD and you would be forced to accept, regardless of you stating no returns. You are bound to the policies for this platform by selling here.

cancle sale due to out of stock:

You take a hit with eBay but cheaper to do so due to the high risk of returns, or payment dispute due to item not as described.

@newventuresresearchcom  according to eBay you ARE the supplier and created the listing. As the seller you are responsible for your listings being correct, no matter what you were told by a 3rd party.

No.

You are responsible for what your supplier do or do not do......

Just like you are responsible for what you shippers do or do not do.....

Their inventory defect rate tolerance is lower than Amazon so I figured they might have some practical wiggle room.

No if you read the original comment the manufacturing company doesnt even have it in stock. Thanks for the drama bait. I purchased this and had it on location quite a while ago but it was sitting in the inventory. I hadnt packaged it for shipping. Let me know who exactly can dropship Keurig pro grade commercial business equipment that Keurig doesnt even have in stock. 🤣
