Listing In Two Categories

If you list an item in two different categories and the final value fee % is different in each, say one category is 11.5% and the other is 14.5% then what % of sale is taken by ebay?

Do they take the highest % fee of the two categories or do they figure fee from the first category that it is listed in?

Thank you for any help.

Listing In Two Categories

Just guessing.     If you list in cat #1   and cat #2       And the purchase is made from Cat #1 the fees would be charged at the cat #1  rate.

This is a question I've asked myself.

Not sure about that because if a buyer is searching just by the item name then buyer would not be buying out of a specific category.

Thanks for your response.

Listing In Two Categories

Just got the answer today from eBay customer service.  The rep also needed to check with another adviser for several minutes before they had the answer.  If you list an item in two different categories (e.g. one FVF 11.5% and the other FVF 14.5%), when the item sells eBay will use the highest FVF %.  So in this example, that would be 14.5%, and it doesn't matter which category was the primary and which one was the secondary.  And this is on top of whatever extra insertion fee you paid for the second category.

Just in case someone wants to confirm that, it is also stated on the selling fees page in the listing upgrade section.

An insertion fee is always charged for the second category, and fees for any optional listing upgrades apply again. The higher of the two final value fees is charged, if your item sells
