Listed price lowered without consent

I listed an item for $50 a few days ago and it dropped to $34 today for no reason. I've had the same thing happen in the past a few times and have read comments from others with the same issue. Is this a hack or what else may be going on here.

Have never had it happen to us, but you and others keep posting it is happening.  Wild glitch that needs resolved!

I'm a strong believer in human error over glitch but who knows?

There used to be a checkbox for some kind of pricing, I forget what they called it, where Ebay would lower your price automatically, every week IIRC.  I don't remember the particulars b/c I never used it, but perhaps OP you accidentally opted in to something like that.

When you post a listing and put the price in, right below the price it states "more options"  click on that and you'll see that ebay is actually lowering the price to attempt to sell it quickly.  Uncheck that box and keep an eye on it.  Also when you complete a listing another screen will appear at the end and states..."Boost your item to help it sell quicker, uncheck the "I agree to the terms and conditions " and then check "no thanks"

Do it to all your listings.  You know what your items are worth.

Show us a screenshot of your proof that Ebay automatically drops everyone's prices. Been here 23 years and never once has Ebay dropped a price on me. Also have never had to uncheck anything that allows Ebay to do so.

eBay has a feature on the app to check off that will automatically lower your price by X amount after so many days.  It's very, very easy to check that box off.  I've made a couple of listings in the app just to say I'd done so. It's there and very, very easy to get caught with it.  You have to be extra careful listing in the disgrace of an app.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

I'm not slick with screen shots, but it did happen to me.  I have no reason to state otherwise.  Several others posted similar issues.  It happened when the new format started out.  I now just use the "sell similar" option and no problems since.

So the OP made a mistake and accidently checked that box to let Ebay lower their price? Interesting, I have never used the app.

@ckimodog is correct, that's the program & check box I posted about.  They never said it happens to everyone.   It happens when that box is checked, which can be done on purpose & the user may have forgotten, accidentally or we have all seen Ebay turn on check boxes for us.  No one said it happens to everyone, but it absolutely does happen & that feature is why.

@southern*sweet*tea

Thank you for validating my post.  When the new listing format came out it was happening to a lot of people and it was posted here on these boards by many.  I figured it out and like I stated earlier,  I only use the sell similar option to list.  Hopefully that will still be an option in the future.  You never know.  ☺

Yeah, it's sneaky.  Since then they have omitted the "are you sure you don't want to make best offers? option.  That went a long with the  "Boost your item to help it sell quicker" box.  The best offer in my opinion is just another avenue for the sport bidders out there.  Just my thoughts.  Back to my ham and beans!!!!

I remember that feature too, although I never used it. I had a look through both the old and new Listing forms, but could not find an option for that anywhere. I also looked through Seller Preferences, but could not find a setting for that there, either, although the preferences areas are so scattered and muddled that it's entirely possible that I missed it.

@tdewb45 : Was it 144515339643, the blue resin shoe? I see three entries in your revision history for that listing, with a revision to the Minimum Bid Price yesterday, followed by another (presumably you resetting it to $50 again) today. Yesterday's entry also shows revisions to the Shipping Terms and Description as well. Is it at all possible that something got accidentally edited in the Price field at that time?

EDIT: I just caught up on the later replies above. Is that feature only found in the Mobile app? Good grief.

@a_c_green  No, it was on the desktop too.  I never used it, but I do remember it.

@a_c_green  - is it on the Advanced Listing tool?  I do not use it, but seems like I remember others discussing this.  I too thought perhaps just on the mobile app?
