LOW FEEDBACK BIDDERS AND TRUSTING YOUR GUT

How would you guys handle this:

I have an item that I have a counter offer on from an ebayer with 5 feedback.

I have misgivings about selling to people with low feedback, because they are generally the ones that do seem to cause the most problems. (that's my personal experience)

On top of that, I messaged the customer, and he hasn't responded to my message./question.

I want to make a sale, but for some reason, I have this feeling that it's gonna turn out bad.  Either he won't end up paying for it, (which is one thing I hate about the special offer deal, it's not immediate payment).

I find the opposite, zero or low feedback buyers don't give me as much problems as ones with hundreds of feedback.

If the buyer doesn't pay you simply cancel after 96 hours as buyer did not pay.

You could set your buyer requirements to require a payment method for offers. Untitled.png

@casl-patr

Buyers have to start somewhere.  If a seller blocked me every time I tried to purchase something with little feedback, I wouldn't be here.  The only thing that I would be leery of is if they ask you to "text" them or they can't pay thru ebay and ask you for your Paypal address. Or...they want you to ship to another address. Then I would stop communicating with them entirely and block them in the process.

Good luck what ever you decide.

Make the sale.

Problem buyers run the gamut of account ages and feedbacks. Chances are if he/she has 5 feedbacks, they've had at least a dozen transactions. And it isn't like sellers can leave negative feedbacks either.

If it was a low value item, i probably would just take the deal.

If it was a bigger deal (shipping costs, higher cost of item) I would decline if they have not responded back via messages. Trust your gut.

Low feedback buyers can just buy an item at full price. So IMHO worrying about them is wasted energy.

Easy solution - instead of making or accepting offers, simply lower your price. It solves the nonpayment problem, and give the buyer a sense of urgency because you have essentially made the offer to everyone and not just him.

did you review their profile?

1. How long have they have been a eBay member?

2. what type of feedback have they received from sellers & buyers?

3. what type of feedback have they personally left for others?

4. if they have paid, did you google map their location?

5. The last thing is to ship with signature required for extra security.

I sold it to this customer. He did pay for it this morning. He did answer my email, albeit late.

I get the feeling that perhaps new ebayers are under the impression that if you are sending them an offer, and they counteroffer, that it's somehow an informal interaction (aka "dickering") as opposed to the binding agreement that it actually is.

This is our concern dude.

So, you see, man. There's a lot of ins and and a lot of outs.

I have had quite a few buyers recently with very little feedback (0-5).  No problems.  Have had 2 recently with hundreds of feedback......  Same can't be said.  Not a big thing, but just more "problems" than the new ebayers

I would think a person buying a car part would not use Ebay much at all. I am surprised you do not have many low feedback buyers. With that said, what's the big deal with low feedback ? If they do not pay just relist. I have low feedback buyers all the time.

Trusting your gut should never come in to play when selling on ebay.

Nothing to investigate. Nothing to think about.

Buyer pays.

Seller ships.

Although i do understand that business should not be emotional, the question the OP posted was on Offers with low feedback with no communications after you message them.

All of my non paying bidders have come from offers from users with minimal feedback. (Usually less than 10)

The topic was about accepting sales from low feedback buyers (if they pay its all good), it's about low feedback buyers making an offer and then not communicating back after you message them.

Trusting your gut is another way of using wisdom from previous experiences.
