@inkydynk  You are not alone.  It's been a year since I last got a promotion and I have totally given up them.  Really stinks though as I am sitting on a ton of new inventory wherein a listing promo would sure come in handy!

Happy 2018! May this upcoming year be a prosperous one!

Re: LACK OF FREE LISTING PROMOTIONS?

From what I've read in previous "promotions" threads it appears that store owners rearly receive free listings promomotions.

Have you checked your subscription preferences?

Why do you need them?

I have one right now on two different accounts with stores. Nice for bonus listings but my business plan doesnt rely on free listings.

Re: LACK OF FREE LISTING PROMOTIONS?

I also currently have 2 different promos going. One for my stores which ends tomorrow and another on the non stores which ends on the 31st

Re: LACK OF FREE LISTING PROMOTIONS?

Just got the 7 day / 100 piece promo on all accounts (stores and the "baby" accounts, aka the 2 non store accounts that serve as overflow and "secret sales that friends and family are unaware of".

I only accepted the promo on the overflow accounts, since they each finished their monthly 50 just today.  If I have any unsolds that need to go back up before the end of the month, they will be sent up on the 31st.  However, I am limiting even more what types of items get to go up on those accounts.  Essentially, if the store rate FvF for an item's category would be any of the under 9.15% rates, it stays on a store account.  Anything else can go on the promo on the non-store accounts.

I'm not bothering even activating it on the store accounts, since I have them planned out already to use up their monthly 250 and do not need the additional busy work, and it looks like I will have very little unlisted product (that is, not already ready to go up) remaining by then.  And what will be ready for relists goes into next month's pool, so I can ensure I maintain my 8 per day until all 250 are used up throughout the month.  Besides, the excess I had got eaten up on the 50 piece Fixed Price promo earlier this month.

If it works, sell it. If it works well, sell it for more. If it doesn't work, quadruple the price and sell it as an antique.

It just all depends on if you get invited to one or not.  They are going on, just not everyone gets invited.

The first 500 free listing promotion I got this year was in June.  That was a 6 month dry spell for me.  I got another one just a couple of days ago for 500 free listings.

So it just all depends if they invite you.  I have no idea how they determine who to invite and who not to.  I certainly had not experienced such a dry spell myself for many years.

Good Luck.

Re: LACK OF FREE LISTING PROMOTIONS?

Seems to depend on who they invite, and when.

Sometimes, it seems to me, that a lot of the promos come out - after a sort of dry spell - not too long before the end of the quarter, and a bunch of folks are chomping at the bit to list lots of things.  Seems to help out the quarterly totals, and makes 'the street' happy, too.

Not saying 'NO' doesn't mean 'YES'.

The foolishness of one's actions or words is determined by the number of witnesses.

Perhaps if Brains were described as an APP, many people would use them more often.

Re: LACK OF FREE LISTING PROMOTIONS?

Also even the folks who are getting them get differing amounts ot seems. I haven't had a promo for 500 for months. Mine are usually 50 or 100

Well, you know, wouldn't want to create an obvious pattern, now would we?  Smiley Surprised

I don't see it the same way as you do.  Until about the middle of last year, I was invited to promos most months.  Not all, but on a pretty regular basis.  Then something happened.  I don't know if there are less promotions going on or if Ebay just decided not to send them to me for awhile.  I've found no logic to the methods they might be using.

The one I got in June was not the "end" of the quarter, it was the beginning of a quarter.  The one I got this month is at the "end" of a quarter.  So no pattern emerging there.

What I use to notice is that I'd get invited to a promotion when it was close to a Holiday weekend as is true with the current promotion I received.  But that did not hold true earlier this year.

Only Ebay knows how they pick and choose who is invited to what promo.  It appears to me that we are all having different experiences with when they come and how frequently.

Sorry to mention this, but June IS the end of the 2nd quarter.  When the number don't come up to meet their expectation, I think they start handing out the promos - of various types.

Every seller is different.

My business plan includes never paying a listing fee or a store subscription, so I rely on them.

I generally receive about 10,000 free listings per year between my two selling accounts.

Also a store owner and I got that one too.  It's the second free promo I've gotten in just the past couple of months.
