As of February 22 2022, all coin dealers were to have added KM numbers to their coins in Item Specifics that were being sold on eBay. There was no explanation of why eBay initiated this policy. How or is eBay going to administer the policing of this policy that has severe consequences, since the majority of coin dealers on eBay have not added the KM Numbers in the Item Specifics by the 2/22/2022 deadline?
eBay Policy: "You can add these new item specifics (including KM Numbers for all coins) now as you list. After February 22, you won’t be able to publish new, relisted, or revised listings in the above categories without the required item specifics."

...may I ask "what is KM Numbers and whatever from eBay new policy, will that affect the buyers as well?"...
...the reason for my question is I am a coin's buyer...(and I hate to see because of such a new rule, coin will be more expensive and hard to get...)
...oh, I'm sorry...thank you all for the answer...greatly appreciate it...!

The KM number is under recommended specifics, it isn’t required.

It’s a numbering system for coins from the Standard catalog of world coins

eBay just wants it so buyers searching that way will find them. Coin catalogs have gotten so thick it was taking forever to look them up. The number makes it faster.

This eBay posting looks "REQUIRED" not recommended to me:
New eBay Policy: "You can add these new item specifics (including KM Numbers for all coins) now as you list. After February 22, you won’t be able to publish new, relisted, or revised listings in the above categories without the required item specifics."
FYI: You can get the "REQUIRED" KM Numbers for your coins by googling KM Numbers for Morgan Dollars, etc., etc., etc., etc.

Could you please provide a link to the verbiage you've quoted so it can be read in context?

the km number in item specifics has annoyed me for a while. why is it even there? no one buys a usa coin using the km number. i understand why world coins use it but it doesnt make sense for usa coins. get rid of it. and if they want to include why dont they have a choice for km number on the left side like they do with date and yada yada.
and thats my km #94

I've been a Coin collector or dealer since 1968
While I have a Catalog with KM numbers in it, I never would dream of using it on U.S. coins.
I sell stamps. If ebay bugs me about an item specific that I want to ignore, I just type in
"Does not apply" and they leave me alone.

If true, I think this would be a HUGE benefit for professional coin sellers.
It will prevent anyone not an expert in coins from listing.
(Unless one can add the old "Does not apply" to the requirement)

Many buyers and sellers on eBay wait till the "Not an expert" begins listing his coins, stamps, cards, comics, or whatever.
Then we buy the stuff and make money.
Rather than make it more difficult for a new seller, eBay and the community should find ways to make it easier.

This was sent to me on 2/4/2022 and I assume everyone who sells collectibles (coins) on eBay.
If you go to your Selling page, and click recommended Item Specifics for any coin you have listed you will note that a KM number is required for that coin.
It would be nice if someone within the eBay corporation would step in and make a clarification of this issue, but I don't see that happening. Bottom Line, requiring KM numbers for coins listed on eBay makes no sense at all and is a waste of our time!

Well, it's 2/25/22, what happened? I do find the idea of KM numbers unique. A lot of coin sellers misrepresent what coin they are selling and this will definitely help out in that regard.
You can thank the title keyword spammers for this change.

That link goes to your messages and you are the only one that can see those.
You said.."If you go to your Selling page, and click recommended Item Specifics for any coin you have listed you will note that a KM number is required for that coin."
If it is under the recommended item specifics that means that ebay suggests you use it. That does not mean that it is required. Recommended does not equal required.
Before I posted yesterday I used sell similar on a few of your listings and the KM number specific was under 'recommended specifics' on all of those listings. If it was required it would be in the required category or would say 'required soon'.

Just tagging on here...
The OP said they were required. I went to look at my listings page to see which required listings would show up. In my store, it was all handbags that were missing things like accents and lining colour.
I went to the "required soon" tab, and there were no coins there... for me, just jewellery missing the gemstone (because when I listed it, the gemstone the earrings have did not have an option for me to select and I'm hasty and won't go through effort to add specifics).
So no coins on the required tabs... I have 3400 items with recommended specifics. I didn't look, but that's probably where all my coin listings are hanging out.
I'm not looking forward to having to add KM numbers (and I'm sure I will have to do that at some point in the future). But for anyone reading here who does coins and wants KM numbers... catalogs are passe... we look up everything on Numista (website about coins). They have every catalog number for every type of catalog. I haven't bought a Krause catalog (with KM numbers) since 2012.
