Every once in a while, mostly when I am bored, I do a broad search just entering Christmas ornaments (what I sell). IIRC, a couple of weeks ago search returned about 775,000 results. Just now search returned 985,702 Christmas ornaments.
Not sure if this is a good thing. The number returned in search looks more like what I am used to seeing Sep- Dec.

Possibly from the 100,000 free listings from March and April?

That is what I am thinking. Maybe people at home, cleaning out their closets, and taking advantage of the free listings.
Going to make for tough(er) competition.

Might be able to snag some deals that you can put away and save until the season starts .....

Need to buy them now. When they come into season the listings will be pulled for taking advantage of the buyer's in need😁

I've done a lot of flipping and sometimes it's like fishing in murky waters.

If current policies continue, all ornaments will be flagged, and pulled when they are in season.

Good or bad?
More competition, yes, but could also mean more buyers are finding more stuff and will keep returning because there is so much stuff to choose from. As sellers, we just need to adapt to the increase in competition. The online competition, whether on here or online generally, is obviously just going to heat up with more people at home and more people unable to shop in B&M stores (or find what they want there).
So, I say "bring it on".
I agree..."bring it on"

Well, we can't go thrifting in stores right now, so I think we are all thrifting our death piles and our attic boxes. I know I am. Which means, that box of ornaments I bought for cheap in February are getting listed now instead of waiting until Fall.

Good for you! I hope buyers will find exactly what they are looking for and tell everyone they know how great the finds are on eBay.

That would be my favourite outcome.

It's all those free listings out there. People are running everything they have got in the hopes of generating some sales.

That would be nice - provided they don't keep buying/bidding on something that ebay decides to pull down.
Then what will they tell everyone?
