Buyer Scam

Buyer Scam -

First the buyer befriends you on an item of interest, then request for days to pay you, Seller sends product ,Buyer Sent threatening emails claimed their product was not received before requesting any help. However, after several threatening emails and despite  confirmed after many emails the box the item was placed in her mailbox by USPS. Thereafter, the buyer confirmed the box in which I had placed the item in and still said the item was not delivered, Red Flag!

Today the Buyer story changes claiming I sent a different item, which I didn’t, I recycle boxes, as most Sellers do. I have been receiving threats from the beginning of the Buyer’s threats . And now after days of harassment is requesting a refund?! I would like for eBay to not only block people like this but also from sending further e-mails after being blocked! eBay can look At all the messages with this Buyer and they will see I have responded in good faith. Yet this person is taking advantage of me and who knows how many more Sellers because No one is at eBay answering the telephone calls because of Cov19. So my colleagues, Sellers Beware and watch out!

Buyer Scam

You sold an item.

The buyer requested time to pay.

The buyer paid.

You shipped with tracking,

The buyer claimed the item was not delivered.

You showed USPS delivery confirmation.

The buyer claims the item is Not As Described.

My go to Message would be:

I regret you are not happy with your purchase. Please return it for a full refund.

Keep repeating the same message.

If he demands a return shipping label :

I regret you are not happy with your purchase. Please open an eBay Claim so I can send your shipping label  for a full refund when received.

Even if your policy is No Returns, that does not mean No Refunds.  But you can demand the item be returned before refunding. The only question is who pays for the return.

Many bullies who have been demanding refunds from "no return" sellers have now been blocked from the Money Back Guarantee program. So they are trying to nag the seller into giving them a refund without involving eBay.

Stand firm.

I agree that there is a problem when sellers cannot block harrassing messages when there has been a transaction. It's easy to see why it would not be a good idea when one is not being harrassed.

Still.

There is a Delete button on your computer.

When you see the bully's ID show up, delete the message without reading.

Delete.

Delete.

Delete.

You can also report "threats" (to your person? to your feedback?) to Customer Service.

At this time, they are working through email, FaceBook, and Twitter.

Best wishes.

I was, before my retirement, a writer and editor for the Canadian government, mostly turning very thorough, detailed  and complete bureaucratese into English or French for ordinary citizens.

Now I write science fiction novels.

Very cool, I am an Audible addict. my library is getting very close to 2000 audiobooks. With as much driving  (commute and work = close to 9 hours 5 days a week) I go through a lot of books.

femme, just those few lines sound like the outline for a great mystery novel.

Just yesterday I went round and round with my local water company. I received a Pink Slip in the mail (LITERALLY pink!) "If balance is not received before the shut off date, your service will be terminated..." blah, blah.

OK, my payment sent was $13.90 short, my fault. They added a $10 fee I suppose to cover the extra manpower to send me a snail mail notice, balance now $23.90.

There is, however, no known nor stated Shut Off Date either on The Pink Slip nor their web site. The clerk I spoke with could not give me a date for Shut Off, then after round-and-round finally said that they needed to look into the wording of The Pink Slip.

This reminds me to much of the endless examples of nebulous terminology concerning anything to do with computers, both hardwear, softwear, and filling online forms. Something termed 'gizmo' at top of page will be referred to as 'whatzit' further down, and renamed 'thingy' in the illustration.

Well, utilities cannot  be shut off due to this pandemic, so you shouldn't have to worry about it for a while. Gives you time to call and fight.

I've never had a water bill but a small area of my mail route is on city water. I don't really know how it works but some don't carry a balance and their bills are minimal, like $10. While others are carried over and are up in the several hundreds. Meaning they haven't paid it in years. Frankly from that I seriously don't know what you would have to do to get it cut off.

When  DD was still in grade school, I was a library volunteer with another parent whose husband wrote computer manuals.

Their job, unpaid, was to read the manual and ask questions until husband rewrote it for the computer illiterate . DD is now 42, so that was a while back.

I ran into the same problem at the beginning of my career, when I proofed a manual of job descriptions and found one that was incomprehensible. Tracked down the original writer who explained that several part sentences and a full paragraph had  dropped off the face of the earth. He found the original (very clear) description and it was corrected.  But the manual had gone through four previous editions without anyone noticing.

Water bills are based on usage(but do have a minimum) - so a homeowner who lives by himself would usually have a water bill much less than a family with 5 kids and a swimming pool in the back yard.

Buyer Scam

LOL yeah I get that.

I have two electric bills. One for my house that runs fridge, freezer, washer/dryer, water heater, TV, computer, lights. And the one for the old farmhouse and barn, that pretty much just runs the few lights I use up there and the pole light, and the dehumidifier in the basement. Once a week I do a walk through of the farmhouse, run a little water and flush the toilet just to keep the pipes from rusting. No one lives there since great Grandma passed in 2005 (I so do not want to be a landlord). I use it occasionally for canning and family occasionally from out of town will stay in it for a night or two. I try to keep it from getting musty or run down. Recently my late hubby's cousin and her husband stayed in it for a month or so when they sold their house in Virginia and moved back to Ohio. It was a place to stay till they closed on the new place and could move in.

This scam can just as easily happen when everything else you wrote does not.
