I do expect to be impacted by Milton, but I'm quite a bit inland so it might not have a big effect, but it's better to schedule temporary TIME AWAY and not need it than to NOT schedule it and be unable to ship due to power outages and closed post offices in your area. I just wanted to share what was on my mind. Everyone be safe!

I agree, it's better to shut down a couple days and not need it, then not and need it.
There's many that don't, then complain after because the PO is closed or no electric to print label's or no Internet.

I think eBay has put the entire platform on time away.

It's not just current activity but for those that have packages already in transit to any of the impacted areas in the southeast this may possibly disrupt delivery or may result in lost packages. During all the spring flooding I had 5 packages that were headed into flood areas that USPS lost and were never found.

My nephew is a UPS driver in a Tampa suburb. He is working Monday and Tuesday as it stands now. His boy goes to public school which is already cancelled for this week as in, not going to school tomorrow.
Hit the time away button now if you are in the path of this storm. No telling when services might be restored if this hits as a Cat3.

Completely off topic I know, but I thought hurricanes were named in alphabetical order. How did we get from Helene to Milton in one jump. What happened to I,J,K and L?

That question is nearly worthy of it's own thread.

Storms are only named after they reach a certain level of power. So cyclone H became Helene, but I, J, K and L remained under the threshold of receiving a proper name.

They got names when they officially became tropical storms (Isaac, Joyce, Kirk, Leslie) but didn't affect the US so didn't make the news here.

You seem to have pretty good sales, why the remark?

I've noticed that some call hurricanes cyclones and I didn't understand it, so I looked it up. In case anyone else didn't know.
- Hurricane: Used in the North Atlantic and eastern and central North Pacific Oceans
- Typhoon: Used in the western North Pacific Ocean, around Japan, China, and the Philippines
- Cyclone: Used in the Indian Ocean and South Pacific

That's like bear spray in the Pacific Northwest wilderness - it's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

Tropical storms are not uncommon this time of year. They don't always grow up to be Hurricanes.
