Dear friends,
Yesterday, I posted 16 Jim Beam Decanters on my store for sale. Because one of them did not say "empty", all 16 were taken down and lost. After a brief discussion with an authority, I was told I would have to "PROVE" that the decanters are empty.
Does anyone see a problem with this? Can I have a responce to this dilemma?

Photos of them with the caps off upside down should be good enough.

Reminds me of the time 10 years ago I listed a miniature toy pistol like the kind a doll would hold, not a big doll either. It was about 2 inches long and photographed next to a ruler for scale. It was taken down because it didn't have an orange tip. It was also over 80 years old. I just couldn't believe it. How ridiculous can the rules get.
Morale of the story is I don't buck the system. As ridiculous as it may be if something in a particular genre is forbidden or some variation of such best to avoid the entire thing all together. From that day forward, orange tip or not I never will list another toy pistol ever again.

Yep. I've done it (relisted when it was taken down in error) but only after I got the go ahead in writing. But not sure that's even possible to get these days.
There's just too many examples of mistakenly taken down by bot issues.

I've had a Jim Beam decanter listed for a few months now without any AI bot problems. Here's the title of the listing #304456391971:
Vintage 1969 Jim Beam Modern Masters IV "CEZANNE FRUIT BASKET" Bottle - EMPTY
I have 4 photos of it listed, and I don't have the need of a photo of the bottle upside-down with the cap off. I think the safe key wording is EMPTY in upper case. However, if it gets taken down by the stupid AI bots, I won't relist it here ... it'll go on Etsy or FBM instead.
The problem with AI is that common sense cannot be programmed into it. Things were certainly a lot easier back in the day when real eBay people with authority were on the other end of the phone line (and not the current total joke of outsourced contractors that will say anything just to get rid of you).
Cheers, Duffy

I am pretty much like you I don't fight or try to push back against the eBay policies, too much time wasted and too much risk. As eBay continues to expand its list of prohibited items and the VERO program they have pretty much forced me to other platforms/venues, with much smaller fees, that have no issues with the listings and don't pay that much attention to what buyers may or may not find offensive.

This does not sound like someone who has resigned themselves that these items are now too risky to relist under the circumstances. And….
Hi @willyswonders4u You said that all your Jim Beam decanters were removed by eBay yesterday, but i see you have two listings up —-with Jim Beam decanters. Did you go ahead and list these today?
eBay penalties are cumulative, and multiple removals for the same violation can get a seller into hot water pretty quick. I see you brought your listings into compliance of the rules. Your risk tolerance must be higher to take a chance, but it is your decision. Below is the policy covering alcohol-related collectibles fyi. Good luck!

The official law is that ones before 1988 do not need it.
Ebay won't bother themselves to know the difference so you have to "ruin" your legal to sell cap gun to officially sell it on ebay.

I guarantee these bottles are empty. I drank their contents over the weekend (accompanied by a pic of seller passed out in the bathtub).

Funny, most people told me not to relist, DO NOT ANGER THE GODS!!!!!! But the appeal went through in 24 and they are back up.
I wonder if they were other Jim Beam dealers.HMMMMMMM

Maybe drill a couple of holes in the bottom of the bottle. That way the buyer wouldn't notice the holes when they set it out on their mantle.
