Dear friends,
Yesterday, I posted 16 Jim Beam Decanters on my store for sale. Because one of them did not say "empty", all 16 were taken down and lost. After a brief discussion with an authority, I was told I would have to "PROVE" that the decanters are empty.
Does anyone see a problem with this? Can I have a responce to this dilemma?

My only response would be dont relist them and risk your account.

Yeah good Ole Jim Beam bottles. The title must have EMPTY in the wording. Now your on the radar so don't relist them.
These bottles are some of the coolest yet problematic collectables out there. You may want to advertise locally for the whole lot.

Yes, you have to show they are empty in your pictures and add "Empty" to title and description.

Empty is the key word. It should be in your description as well as the title. My suggestion would be to not list them again or you'll find your account possibly suspended. Sell them at a local flee market or even on FB. Sorry for your situation.
Happy Selling!

Who was this 'authority'?

I have a lot of follwers on ebay and I like the convenience, I hope I learn what they want.

I have only sold one empty collectors whiskey bottle on eBay but ran into similar issues with regards to the listing and have since located another venue with far lower fees and less hassle with regards to the listings. I simply wasn't, as bonjourami mentioned, willing to get perm suspended over the issue.
If you want to get specific with regards to "proving the bottle is empty" you can purchase, at minimal cost, a DEPSTECH Endoscope camera that will allow you to take a video with a flexible camera that can be inserted into the mouth of the bottle and film the inside but that is overkill. Wife also suggested I could use this for medical procedures but I rejected that idea.

I wonder what they accept as 'proof' that the bottle is empty? A photo of it upside down/on it's side with no lid maybe?

I think people vastly overestimate the power of customer support, supervisors or 'authorities' to prevent future bot action against a seller's listings in the future.
Too many times, people on this board have reported that a listing was taken down after they were told by 'someone at eBay' that it was 'okay' to relist it.

It is futile and pointless to argue against AI. I had an empty mini bottle removed. The bottle was from Cuba and my wording screwed it up somewhere. Of course, the ironic part for me was that the bottle was from pre Castro Cuba and has been in the US for probably 70-80 years

I sold several high-end empty liquor bottles here with no problem, as others have said the title and description must include EMPTY and you should show at least one photo of the bottle with cap off and being held upside down.
