Haven’t read such great things on this board re: using watch & handbag certification.
Always disputes, problems, missing items, lost packages, switched merchandise…etc., etc., etc.

Anything over $500 in the listed categories it will be required.

Hi there! One of the other members posted this earlier:
I sell jewelry, but nothing over $500, or $200 for that matter. Hope this is helpful. Have a great day.

Where does it say anything over $500. Using the new functionality is mandatory?
It seems like a lot of shipping & sending items all around!
I like how I package up my jewelry & don’t want others paws on my boxes!

No, eBay's Authenticity Guarantee is a required service designed to protect buyers and sellers.

(Open the FAQ section so see the section I quoted above)

We know how well it has worked for high end sports shoes.

I have to dissagree..the only problem is with the sneakers
I have not heard of any problems with the watch authenticators except for one pass thru return that the buyer forced
the watch authenticators are way better than the sneaker folks and I have never heard of anyone getting the watches mixed up .
the watch people are real people and have been doing the watches long before the sneaker folks were in diapers

I just ended my 7 most gorgeous expensive antiquejewelry & fine jewelry items I had listed here.
All were selling local pick up only.
Next I May end more of my jewelry items costing way over $500.
I spent 24 years uneventfully selling fine jewelry here & with the exception of 1 demented criminal wacko scammer trying every trick in the book to steal, having no problems with any other buyer whatsoever.
Don’t think I’ll be sending off my fine jewelry to supposed strangers who work for eBay.
Ebays loss!
I’m from New York City’s 47th Street, Diamond Center…

eBay Acquires Sneaker Con Authentication Business (Nov. 29, 2021)

@jewelbiz Just a note, not all jewelry that is offered at $500 or more is currently eligible for the Authentication Guarantee. You might want to read the announcement carefully to be sure you aren't removing items that are not subject to the AG. Of course, ebay will be expanding eligibility as time goes on, so they might become eligible, but right now, there's some very expensive stuff that is not eligible.

". . . not all jewelry that is offered at $500 or more is currently eligible for Authentication Guarantee."
Indeed. This thread contains a lot of gnashing of teeth. Here are some details from the announcements itself.
Starting today, July 20, 2022, eBay has contracted with Authentication Guarantee, a company that is going to authenticate jewelry items that meet these criteria: (1) things that sell for over $500 AND (2) things that are listed in these two eBay categories: Fine Jewelry and Engagement and Wedding Jewelry.
eBay will start notifying sellers of items that fall into those criteria now. If you have jewelry items that sell and that meet those criteria, eBay will notify you about these Authentication requirements.
And the Final Value Fees will be raised: beginning September 12, 2022. So that's something like seven or eight weeks from now.

It has already gone into effect as of today, and the increased fees in September.
