Items keep being flagged as counterfeit even though they are not?!

So my boyfriend and I both have our own eBay stores and he has had only one bad review over the last year of selling. The person that left the bad review is a guy who bought an item from him that clearly said in the title that the item did not work.  The guy claims he was never told that it did not work and so on and so forth. It turned into a HUGE ordeal and he ended up having to get eBay involved (which never works out in the seller's favor). Well, the guy who left the bad review has really just taken it to the extreme so my boyfriend decided to just block him as a buyer. Ever since he blocked the guy, my boyfriend's items keep getting reported as counterfeit. So for instance, he listed an iPhone wall charger new in the box and it was marked counterfeit 4 different times!! It was never even opened and it is a legit charger. He now has a Coach chain with mini purses off of it. He is trying to list the chain and it continues to be marked as counterfeit even though it is absolutely not. So, my question to you all is, could this be that same guy whom he blocked? Could the guy who was blocked as a buyer be following his store and reporting everything he posts? Is there any way to stop this?

As far as the blocked buyer list and mixed answers goes, if you had relations with a buyer(lol) and you block them it is different than blocking someone you did not sell an item to. I think. Once you sell an item to a buyer and it doesn't go well and you block them, they can still message you. They can see your listings but can't buy. A message will appear if they try. If you never sold anything to someone and block them, they should not be able to message or buy. I have an extensive BBL.

Could be the same guy under a different eBay user name account. When you block a buyer, that buyer can no longer see your listings or your store or even send you a message. I know because an international seller blocked me for asking him a simple question about his product. I guess he doesn't like questions.

I waited days with no reply, so I decided to try messaging him again. Behold...his items no longer appeared in my search results (they were usually at the top of the page of results). I was able to find his seller name and when I tried to click on "Contact Seller", the link did nothing. Didn't open a message box.  When I clicked on "View Store/View Items For Sale" and the page came up blank.

So, unless your disgruntled buyer has another eBay account, he won't even be able to see your listings to be able to report them once he's blocked.

Items keep being flagged as counterfeit even though they are not?!

I was curious what all a blocked buyer could / could not see. I googled it and the answers all seemed to vary depending on who wrote it. So it could just be someone who followed his store that did not like something he posted or it could be the same person under a different account. This is all very interesting. Wish eBay would help track down the issue, he is having a very hard time simply posting at this point. He is considering closing the store and starting fresh; it's becoming so frustrating for him.  Thank you for the help!

When you say marked as counterfeit 4 times what do you mean?  Did he list it and it got taken down by eBay for being counterfeit so he listed it again?   If the item was listed after being taken down, it’s likely that the eBay bots are now automatically taking it off.   It’s rarely  a good idea to relist an item that eBay took down and the seller can lose their selling privileges for doing that.

Ebay generally does not take down a listing just because it was reported by another user for being counterfeit so I doubt this has a anything to do with the previous buyer.  If they did that, I’m sure that some sellers would report their competitors to cut down on the competition.

If a buyer is blocked they can definitely still see the sellers listings.

Blocked buyers can still see the sellers listings.

Have to clarify that last part as I ran out of editing time.   If a specific buyer is blocked by a seller, the buyer can still see the sellers listings.  If the seller has blocked buyers from a specific country, those buyers will not be able to see that sellers listings.  That might be why you were seeing conflicting answers.

It is highly unlikely the guy you think is reporting is actually having those items removed. Over the years I have reported so many items (legit reasons), and NEVER has one been removed. Typically Coach and Apple will almost ALWAYS get items removed as they are the rights holders. Also just so you know if you continue to disregard Ebay's warning and keep listing those items you will be banned from Ebay.

If you listed an iPhone product and it was removed it was evaluated as counterfeit by APPLE not ebay.  If you listed a COACH product and it was removed it was evaluated as counterfeit by COACH not ebay.   How can your boyfriend be such a specialist?  Even the FBI will have separate agents for each company.

PS  You can even buy counterfeits from legitimate retail venues.

I don't recall saying that he was a specialist, I believe I just said that they were not counterfeit items. That could be me stating that based on my personal opinion? I don't think it's very fair though to make judgment calls like that.

Can you confirm whether or not a Blocked member can still see (and possibly report the blocking seller's listings?

Yikes. Stubbornly relisting items that eBay has said not to list can result in a permanent ban.

Hi, @reallynicestamps! A blocked buyer will still be able to see a sellers listings and can also report them as well. Sometimes buyers will not be aware they are blocked until they attempt to purchase.

If an item is said to be counterfeit and listing ended by eBay: do not relist it.

As for some user reporting you they can and nothing you can do about it: a report button is on every listing.

As for you thinking its all one user: I doubt it.

eBay has bots that search for stuff, as well as companys that own the rights to name and items (Vero) go after counterfeits.

This all has NOTHING to do with some BUYER.

Items that are removed for "being counterfeit" are NOT done because some buyer said so.

They are being reported by a VERO member; and both Apple and Coach are members and do NOT allow people to sell their stuff. It IS hit/miss and there are many listed, but eventually their items will be removed as well.

To 'RELIST' items that have been removed by eBay is a HUGE NO-NO. To continually 'relist' is CLEARLY stated NOT TO DO on the message you received from eBay.

Although I agree that these listings were not taken done because of a single user report it is possible that eBay took the listings down, not Vero.    I have to disagree with the bolded part of your reply as it is not true that those companies do not allow their brands to be sold here.  They do allow authentic items to be listed.
