Item specifics missing

I read the fall seller update and I am aware of the tools to fill in the new item specifics.  I am noticing some of my listings are now missing the size! Why isn't this being transferred? I want to spend my time listing new items not fixing listings that had all the required information. What is going on?

Pulled up a listing, one of hundreds, that is being requested to add specifics to it.  It wants to know TYPE.  It is offering "pants" as an option.  That would be correct.

These are men's pants.  They are listed under Clothing, Shoes & Accessories, MEN, Men's Clothing, Pants.

Now, I get a request to fill in a box on "TYPE".  I will select "Pants", but it is already in under this by how the listing was set up.  Why do I have to go and fix hundreds of listings that are listed just like this that are under "Men's Pants", but now are asking what they are?  Does the system not know they are pants?  They are listed under Men's pants.  But the system needs me to tell it that now.  Same with shirts, underwear, jeans, and more.  The biggest request for each is "Department" and "Type", both which are the class the item is already in.

Last year, a huge amount of our items lost the "Size" that was filled in when listed because the box ended up under another area in nearly all my listing, so the system had no idea what size my items were although all of them were put in upon listing.  Now this year, the system needs me to tell it a second time the information provided when the items were listed.  I just do not get this?

The biggest issue is in CSA with thousands of sellers getting messages that we need to update IS's for missing items.   This is being reported everywhere.  The "missing" IS's are Size.   Which was NOT missing for any of them b/c we CANNOT list an item without the Size IS filled in (& haven't been able to for 5-6 years or so).  So Ebay, somehow DROPPED the size for these, as they were always there.

This is affecting MANY, MANY users & driving us crazy.  Can you please address the elephant in the room instead of some minor errors?  There's at least 5 or 6 threads here, many threads on private boards, it's all over the place!!!

I'm still fixing your errors from 4 IS implementations ago, I do not need another thousand to fix b/c Ebay once again dropped the ball & dropped all our SIZE IS's.

JUST TO BE CLEAR, IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO LIST IN CSA WITHOUT SIZE, so as all the sellers are reporting, SIZE WAS IN THE LISTINGS ORIGINALLY, often times for YEARS.

Re: Item specifics missing

It is nice to see that someone from eBay finally responded to this issue, but this is just the latest of numerous posts on this current issue.   And as other posters have pointed out - it has happened and been reported as a result of previous updates - yet your techs keep making the same mistake.  No excuse for that.

THis has been going on for WAY longer than 2 years.  I"m still fixing ones from 4 years ago.  EVERY implementation gets completely hosed & although each time they promise to move IS's to the appropriate new field, it rarely happens.

The DEPT IS is a pet peeve of mine.  Was introduced with the last batch, last year & makes zero sense.  It's completely redundant with the category.  If I'm selling in Womens then the Dept is Womens (there are only 4 options anyway, so it's worthless).  Don't even get me started on all the worthless IS categories.  Adult women's clothing does NOT have characters 99.9% of the time.   Blue & silver are colors, NOT characters!

After the last round, we did not have industry standard sizing for Plus sizes for 3 MONTHS until they finally paid attn & fixed it.   Then they missed one & that took another month.  Even now, a year later, the industry standard (1x,2x,3x, etc) are at the bottom instead of the top.

Each time is a complete nightmare & as an IT person myself, reduces me to tears.  There has never been consistency or knowledge applied to them in CSA.

They are still missing Knit Tops as a Style or Type (which are also redundant), knit tops are at least 60% of what I sell & they removed them.   Button Down became Button Up.  V-neck became v neck became v-neckline became v neckline & is now back to V-neck.  Why do they make these inane changes & why are there MASSIVE implementation errors every single time.  It has reduced me to tears in the past.

Hi dietaryconsultant,

Thank you for your callout on partially missing or irrelevant data in Required soon item specifics in Men’s and Baby's clothing categories. I’m terribly sorry to hear that you’ve had this frustrating experience with missing Sizes in some of your listings. We apologize for any disruption during this seller release. Are you still experiencing these issues? I can assure you, that we are looking into the root cause of this behavior. Regarding your callout on missing or irrelevant values, we added a new Style for Men's Sweaters (Full Zip) in order to allow sellers more options for this Required field. We’ve also eliminated values that are typically found in Women's Sweaters. Additionally, we’ve reviewed Baby Dress Length values and revised it to allow for three relevant ones (Long, Knee Length, & Short) versus values that are typical in Women's dresses, like Midi, etc.

Thank you again for sharing this important feedback and for choosing eBay!

@Anonymous

I revised all of mine when the new tool came out to update them a couple of months ago.   And then last week I updated all of mine because they showed up as "need item specifics" or "recommendations" and then yesterday, again, the same items popped up as needing recommended or required specifications.

1.  Size..  Most are clothing items and had size already there but now I have to add it again.

2. Multi-variation listings are requiring me to put in size.  I can't.  Size is the variation.  Some of them have 4-5 sizes.

3. Character...  Really? Men's underwear is suggesting I add character.  Hmm.  Spider-man, teenage mutant ninja turtles. ?  In Women's I get Wonder Woman or Barbie.  Really? Did anyone even consider the category? These are not in kids or toddlers.  I'm adding "none" to all my listings, but even better, I also have to add none to Theme.

4. Suddenly all my underwear listings are asking for compression.  There is none in most but there is not even a way to say "none"    And then I have to add compression area, even though I did not add compression.

Listings that I update and say "do not show these recommendations again" (With checkbox) show up hours later as needing updating.

and listings that I added size to yesterday are now missing size.  And I added "number in pack" and those are now missing.

These is a nightmare.  If we don't get them fixed what is going to happen? No selling, no listings, no showing in search?

Something is seriously wrong.  I'm playing whack a mole with item specifics.

Any ETA on this?  There are hundreds, possibly thousands of sellers being affected by this in CSA.   It's all over the Ebay boards & private boards.  Many listings are now "missing" the Size IS.    This is not possible, as the Size IS has been a required IS for 6 years or so.  ALL of these listings had SIZE in them & it's now disappeared.  IT IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR USERS TO LIST in Womens Clothes WITHOUT SIZE, so Ebay dropped the SIZE IS.   This is causing MASSIVE problems for it appears ALL CSA sellers, who bother to check their notices.

Can you imagine how big of a disaster it will be when they “fix” this problem?

Re: Item specifics missing

Yep! I was hoping it was just a “me” thing but I’m guessing it’s not. We have over a 1,000 listings that have been flagged as “required soon”. Get into the listing to find sizes are missing, which was NEVER a thing. Batch/bulk updating using the 1999 bulk editor is not effective + errors out often,  individual updating is not efficient, and knowing 1/3 of our store is likely “not seen” due to the revised (many duplicated)requirements = frustrating. Exactly one year ago to the date, we all had to update our listings, this same way(color & sizes disappeared when they auto pulled or converted). Apparently they did not think it through before rolling it out the first time. I’ll keep working on them but I’d really hope they could stop messing with our listings in the 4th quarter. 😒

Re: Item specifics missing

I just noticed this in our listings.  We had several different custom item specifics which we used for our listings.  And they are now gone.  What was the purpose of us taking the time as we listed each item individually and added these custom specifics to have ebay just capriciously wipe them out?  We have 7,600 listings that have now been effected by this ebay action.
