I was a picture framer for about 20 years and do so now occasionally. I do not understand completely - the new required item specifics as per size. AND - using the word 'length' for outer dimensions of width adds to confusion IMO. I think most people would refer to the main dimensions as height and width. Then specify outer dimensions of frame - then inner dimensions of frame opening. Then show dimensions of opening on reverse for product as height and width with depth as well. Some of the antique frames had barely enough depth to accommodate a single strength piece of glass, a thin print and a thin cardstock backing - while other frames could hold wood stretcher bars without protruding past profile. eBay now requires " Measure the shortest horizontal side of the product from end to end, not the same side as the item length or item height". I do not know what that means.
