It says it is possible to ask a buyer to remove negative feedback. How do I start the process?

I had a buyer who gave me negative feedback when an item arrived broken without giving me a chance to refund or correct the problem.  When I read the feedback I immediately refunded the buyer.  It says now I can ask the buyer to remove the negative feedback. How do I get the process started?  Thank you for  your help.

@dontseemeI know how you feel - I always had 100% positive feedback. After I came back from being laid off for 4 months because of Covid, the owner had continued to fill ebay orders and ended up with 3 negative feedbacks. I was able to get 2 of the 3 reversed. That 1 negative did bug me though. She also demolished my tracking and shipping %. Just don't look at it (if you can help it). Think of it this way - if I saw a seller had 1 negative out of hundreds of positives, it wouldn't stop me from buying from them.

You can ask the buyer if they would be willing to revise the FB if you send them a Feedback Revision Request form.  They aren't obligated to agree, however.

PS:  Looked at the last two pages of your FB and see no negatives.  Has it perhaps been removed already?

It is still showing as being within the last 12 months.  I have always tried so hard to keep my feedback as all positive.  Might sound silly but when I see that red mark, it hits me right in the gut.

Thank you for your answer.  Could you tell me how to find the form I need to send to the buyer?  Thank you

Rebecca

There is one negative feedback on your account from quite some time ago that references broken items. Because you responded to that, eBay will not remove the negative.

There is a Feedback Revision Form to send to a Buyer asking if they will revise their negative, but your time to do that may have already expired.

It's too late.  Your chance to do that has expired.  Hard to understand why you would have waited this long.

It is too late to ask for a Feedback Revision now. The feedback can't be more than 30 days old. In the future, a feedback revision can be done right from your feedback profile.

So what I can tell you is this. If you want negative feedback to be removed what I do first is message the buyer and see what outcome would work the best for them. And once it is resolved, I send them a feedback revision request and explain why I am.

Keep in mind I have to do this within 30 days...Yours is around a year ago or such. And it'll fall off your satisfaction score exactly 1 year from the negative feedback date. That does not mean other people can still see it though

When it happened, I contacted eBay and explained the situation.  I was told by them I could not do anything about it.  I had contacted the buyer about changing the feedback.  She was a newer buyer and did not really understand about the feedback thing.  She said she would change it then but emailed me back and said she tried but could not get it done.  Only today when I was leaving feedback for a buyer, the red square popped up and said I could ask the buyer to change the feedback.  I just thought the eBay policy had changed where I could get it removed. Wonder why I was told when it first happened that I could not do anything about it.  Guess I will just have to live with the red mark.

Thank you

Thank you for taking the time to contact me.  When I first started selling on eBay, I needed to pay for heart medicine for my little dog.  It was $150.00 a month plus vet visits.  I could not have paid for it myself.  I was selling vintage kitchen items from my own home that I had collected.  That was years ago.  I have since lost my little dog and retired from driving a school bus for 32 years.  Now I sell on eBay for fun and the money sure helps me pay for real estate taxes, house insurance, etc.  Plus it is a lot of fun looking for vintage kitchen items to sell.

Covid sure has impacted our world.  I was not able to visit my Mother who lives in assisted living for over a year and a half.  She is 90 years old. I was worried I would never see her again. Since have gotten to visit about 2 months ago but now they are in lock down again.

Glad you recovered from that awful virus.  Hope there are better things ahead for you.

In light of the nature of your original question, if you plan to sell here regularly, you might want to re-read all the information in the Seller Information Center.  And be sure to keep up with all the announcements.
