Issues with Buyers Opening Refund Requests After Damaging the Product Themselves

Hello everyone,

I sold a few new and unused motherboards that I originally purchased for my own use. However, one buyer damaged the motherboard due to his own mistake after receiving it and later submitted a return request, even though the 30-day return window had already passed. This situation is extremely frustrating, and honestly, it's making me consider stopping selling these products due to the high potential for loss.

I thoroughly test each motherboard before shipment, ensuring that the products are fully functional and defect-free. The buyer confirmed that the motherboard was working fine when they received it. However, after using it several days, the buyer reported issues, claiming that the product was no longer working. It is important to note that the product worked fine when shipped, and the damage seems to have occurred due to incorrect usage or external factors after delivery.

Such situations are very frustrating as a seller, because despite sending my products in perfect working condition, buyers can damage them due to incorrect usage or external factors, and then claim they are faulty to request a return. My main concern, though, is the possibility that other buyers may exhibit similar behavior. If buyers can damage the products themselves due to incorrect handling or external issues and then claim it’s broken to request a return, this creates a significant financial loss and a very difficult situation for the seller. Facing such issues is making me reconsider selling these types of products.

After the buyer confirmed that the product was functioning properly upon receipt, it’s hard to understand how these issues arose later. How can I protect myself as a seller in such situations? Have other sellers faced similar cases, and what solutions have they found to address these return requests?

I would really appreciate any advice or insights on this matter.

Regards,
