Issue with buyer from Canada?

Hi. I'm in the US and I have been going on some of the other ebay websites such as Canada lately to source items to resell and went on there yesterday and was prompted to sign in which I thought was weird but it autofilled my ID and password so it was the legit ebay site. While on there an offer came through for a golf putter I have for sale. The buyer is in Canada but since I'm opted in to the new global shipping program I figured sure I'll accept that. Well now the buyer says they can't find a way to pay me and they're not new to ebay. I directed them how to go about that but now I'm wondering if logging into the Canada site has made it look like I'm a Canadian seller or something. I honestly am just confused. Maybe the buyer will figure it out easily on their end but I want to get ahead of this. Thanks

buyer just paid. all looks good with their address. going to ebay shipping location. welcome to delete this

Sounds like a scam attempt to me.  That's one of the warnings..."I can't buy your item because I am new, can you please give me your Paypal address so I can pay you?"  They won't.  You'll lose the item and the money.

I just looked at your account and you do offer world wide shipping, so the problem is most likely with the alleged buyer.  Check their feedback and see how long they have been around.  Just protect your self.  Scammers are everywhere.

Happy Selling!

Did they pay you thru eBay payments?

Re: Issue with buyer from Canada?

When you go to a different eBay site you will always have to log in to that site to do anything other than browse. Although you can use the same account and password the log-in has to be done on each site.

As to the EIS payment issue your buyer is having, I don't use it (I ship direct). One thing I do not know is if the billing process works the same way as it does for a normal domestic sale or an international sale NOT using EIS. In those cases the "billing" is immediate, maybe there is a lag when it is an EIS sale.

Maybe there is a Canadian user who has bought from the US via EIS here on the board (there are quite a few regular poster here that are registered in Canada) that has experience with the process and knows what issues there can be.

One possible issue is the size of a golf club, there are restrictions on what can be shipped via EIS

eBay pretty much adds EIS as an option based on the Category it is listed in, that is too general as there are Categories that would qualify but those Categories can contain items which exceed the weight or length that EIS has, I'm not sure what happens in those cases, they should block them from EIS but I don't know how they deal with that.

I don't golf and don't really know what the packed size would be but I expect it's possible it would exceed the limit (a golf club must be very close). It looks like you had flat rate shipping on that listing, since you don't have to include weight/dimensions when you use flat-rate it might be that which is the problem, did you add this info to the listing?

Or maybe it's something completely different that is causing the payment issue for your buyer, I'm really just speculating.

One thing for sure, having logged in to .ca would not be the cause of the problem, that is simply coincidence.
