its not like ive never issued a refund but my brain isnt working.. package mailed 5/25 (from NY to TX) which has not budged from point of origin..buyer very nice about it but im thinking time to issue a refund..so question do i just cancel the order or do i just issue a straight refund? of course the package is laying somewhere but if & when it does show up will deal with that then (item is $20). thanks (ps im old lol)

Open up an investigation with the courier. Then tell the customers that you opened up an investigation & to give it a bit more time. If after a week or so & the item still hasn't budged, then simply ask the buyer to open up a item not received claim in ebay. Then, take care of the refund. However, definitely open up an investigation with the courier.
Good luck!

Well... with a cancellation, you'll receive a fee credit. I suppose (by this late date), you could cancel citing a problem with the buyer's address... that's the nearest choice of the cancellation options that fits, as I see it.
If the order resurfaces, it'll be forwarded to your buyer... repayment is questionable, but doable. Good luck.

If there is no tracking I would issue a refund.
If there is tracking I usually walk to my post office in San Francisco and ask where package is and the clerk can tell me immediately. USPS website doesn't always show tracking these days. Never got a package lost with tracking.
Media Mail does take longer of course these days.

Call your local post office and make the inquiry. If they still have the package, ask them to send it back to you.
Also, you can go to the USPS website and open a 'where's my package' case. This usually gets the package moving.
As far as a refund, I would do what @mtgraves7984 suggests, cancel due to problem with buyer's address and then refund.
Let the buyer know you are working with USPS to locate the package, and should it arrive to them, they can pay you back thru a PayPal invoice that you can send them. See what they say.

Go on your courier website and click on missing item, enter the tracking number, then sign up for update notifications via text or email. Sometimes this helps to shake it loose.
Notify buyer and tell them you filed a missing package report and keep them informed.

have a tracking # - hub went to the post office & it definately is not there which means they shipped to next location (which i think is in NJ) the USPS database is telling me the same thing

If the buyer asks you to cancel, I think you can cancel the transaction using the reason "Buyer Requested".
So if the buyer is nice, you could ask the buyer to ask you to cancel 😉

So after 18 days of no movement showing (stuck at point of origin), no luck with using other data base to give it a kick & physically asking local PO to search (no avail) We decided to issue a full refund ok no problem..i stopped checking than lo & behold it shows up as Out for Delivery (1 day short of a full month NY to TX)..i contact buyer to confirm if he got it - no response for a couple of days than get some i was distracted meant to contact you blah blah again OK..asks how do i now pay..this never happened to me so i nose around to find out & tell him im knocking off $3 item price (it was free shipping) - crickets crickets crickets - i mean im over it S..happens just posting to let you all who tried to help know the outcome - is there anything i could have done differently? of course it was USPS
