Is this a fake email? Cannot pay

“Hello! I apologize for this message and the inconvenience it may cause you. A few days ago, I won an auction you had in your page, for 1 Movado watch. The thing is, something came up and the money I was going to use to pay for those I needed for my car. Is there any way you could cancel my orders and re-auction your watch? Again, apologies for this quite awkward situation.” Thanks!

I would go ahead and cancel based on "Buyer requested."  BUT first, double-check to make sure that the message actually came from your buyer, and not from some mischief-maker.

What makes you think it is a fake email?

Why not just cancel, citing buyer requested as your reason?

Why does it matter. It could be true, it could be buyer's regret.

They will not be paying.

They will be getting a non-pay strike unless you decide to take a cancellation strike.

Pretty sure there is no "cancellation strike" if the cancellation fits the reason "buyer requested', which is what this appears to be.

The seller does not get a defect point if  they cancel based on "Buyer requested." And they can do it right now, rather than waiting 4 days before relisting their item.
