Is there an advantage to having two accounts? For example I have one account which is miscellaneous items I am selling off from my house - basically a garage sale. I also have about 15 vintage items I would like to maybe have a separate account for (not enough items to have a Store). My thinking is it would be more advantageous to promote, create SEO etc. with specific items in one account. Or would it be better to group everything in one account to have more items and more traffic?

I have had 2 accounts for 20 years on eBay. When I originally opened them my intent was one for buying and one for selling. At the time other eBay'rs could see what and how much you had purchased. Lately I have been using one account for more specialized items(main) and the other for not so items. I have noticed that potential buyers do review the other items you have listed. So, yes, in my opinion it does matter in certain cases. I would recommend trying 2 accounts. If things change, then you can always go down to the one account. The only down side is your feedback will be obviously split between the accounts, but I believe that would be less important. Just my thoughts. Good luck!

I have 2 accounts, 1 for selling and 1 for strictly buying anything not business related

A lot of sellers split their listings among two or more accounts for whatever reasons suit their business model--a separate account for items sent without tracking, for example, or by category (as you illustrated), or some have separate accounts to take advantage of more free listings, if that comes into play.

Some even have more than 2 and some even have what we call a posting id just for the boards and don't have to worry about other posters screwing with their listings. .

I've always had a combined buyer & seller account for nearly 2 decades. I did this starting out, because it added legitimacy to my account when i started selling, and increased my number of feedbacks. Over the years, my buying has greatly decreased, and I've never bothered to split them... honestly, it's just become easier to maintain this way. I don't sell enough to split seller accounts... and I personally would consider it a huge PITA to maintain multiple accounts...

On thing to keep in mind. If you open another account, it starts as a new user. You will have listing limits and payment holds even if you have other accounts that don't. You need a different email address for each too.

I have 4 accounts going. I have one for odds and ends and items that I will ship without tracking, this account will never be "top rated" I sell clothes in a separate account because I want my store to concentrate on flamingos and tropical treasures. The last account sells items from our "official" locksmith business. I can scan all four accounts in less that 5 minutes each morning. I prefer the separate accounts.
