I normally don't complain about sales. I figure I am in control of what I can or
cannot make on this site, by how much effort and the type of merchandise I offer.
Well since the beginning of July, nothing seems to work. I usually sell between
1-3K monthly. So far this month I am on pace for my worst month ever, and may not sell $300.00
worth of merchandise this month at this pace. My sales are generally somewhat
consistent and very rarely do I have
any dry spells.
Do I need to end more listings and make new ones out of them?
Do I need to list more or less?
Do I need to promote all listings?
Do I need to put everything on sale via markdown manager?
Sales are going so slow this month that I am trying to figure out what is the best approach to
jump start my sales. I do not sell on other platforms and I don't want to now.
I want to be a happy camper on this platform and I am just searching for the right formula
to get back to the sales I normally have.
Any suggestions???

I feel your pain. I'm sweating it out too. I was ending stale listings daily, tweaking, and re-listing to no avail. I bet I've done 600 relists or more since mid June. Although I probably have another few hundred stale listings, I'm holding off for now.

No, you really have to do nothing, but list more if you can. Summer is slow, get ready for fall & winter, sales will average out at the end

I was looking at eBay's sales data for coins, and the biggest months for sales are late winter and spring with the worst in July and August. Explore on your own, but this looked like a typical profile for sales:

(If accurate, your sales have likely been robust for several months and have lately tanked).

It's very horrible for me also. I have some stuff that is scarce/rare listed that is in demand and there's hardly any views let alone watchers. I normally do not list expensive stuff here but I wanted to draw interest to my store. I have a beautiful copy of Hemingway's, the green hills of Africa with a dust jacket and it's a first edition. I am thinking of listing it along with some other stuff in same caliber but if I can not generate nothing here, not even with bread and butter stuff then what's the use. I have tried editing and raising and lowering prices to no avail. As for stale listings, I don't know as even new listings getting nothing. It might have something to do with catalog changes. Or it could be many other things that are way beyond our control. Not one measly sale here in 4 days which is beyond scary for me. I am thinking of starting a second store. That might give me a boost in sales. I have been reading everything about no or slow sales and I can tell you this that there are glitches all over the place. Good luck......

Yes. Customers can not check out. It's Pay Pal and or eBay not in sync or something worse. I think it's Pay Pal all messed up. And they blame eBay and eBay blames pay pal. It's a dog chashimg it's tail. But it could be something as simple as upgrading to a pay pal business account which does not cost more. But I'm afraid to do it because it could cause a new glitch......

Thank you, finally someone else confirming the problem. I ordered about 10 DVDs on July 1, they were deducted from my bank by Paypal (I used debit, not paypal) and then a couple days later they refunded, then the same day deducted again. They are not in my purchase history, they show as 'returned or canceled' in my ebay, and after I'd ordered I got an email saying payment didn't got through with buttons to Pay Now beside each DVD. I am now having to dispute the last deduction they took from my bank. No orders went through.
I feel bad for anyone that depends on their ebay sales for income.

Mostly, the reason buyers can't check out is because of Apples IOS mobile operating system on there I Phones, I Pads and I Pods. I just visited Pay Pals community boards and there are threads on this. Part of the culprit too is Google Chrome so changing browser might help but maybe not. Apple updates are causing this plus there new phones coming out .......Can't be fixed? IDK......

We are slowly becoming incompetent as a whole community. It's been a while coming now. It all became apparent when I started seeing people of all shapes sizes and denominations supporting our current president of operations.

Let's be patient ... savvy and intelligent people have known for years that our president is incompetent ... all the insiders know it as well. We just need the naive masses to embrace reality, and then (just maybe) he'll get removed from office.
Obviously, I'm talking about Wenig.

You have to keep mixing things up. Dumb, I know, but ebay seems to respond better when you're active. If I just let my same listings sit, sales drop to zero. If I start ending and relisting, or listing new, they pick up a bit. If I add auctions, they pick up a bit more. Auctions particularly have helped sales of my fixed price listings, which makes it even dumber, since it's the same stuff that doesn't sell when I let it sit. Clearly, you need action on your part or your stuff is hidden from potential buyers.
The problem I'm running into now is the 15 auctions totaling $800 that are sitting unpaid. I've already filed two non payers, and I'm about to do the rest. Ebay should be more like Proxibid in that respect. So, my sales numbers are artificially inflated because they include accounts payable with zero ability to ensure payment.

Sellers have been coming to this board every month for the last five years saying that they are suddenly experiencing their worst sales ever.
You are certainly not the only one, but it is also not happening to everyone.
