Is the USPS particularly slow this year or is it just me?

I don't think I've had a single order arrive at its destination on time this year, and it's becoming dreadful to mail items out. I can't blame buyers for not leaving feedback when it's taking up to 10 days to get their purchases. I mail directly from the post office within one day. Tracking is almost always incomplete; they routinely skip scans, and packages are getting stuck in distribution centers for a week. It's stressful. Are there better options?

The only scan that counts is the delivery scan.    The world has seen many changes with wars, politics and Covid.   USPS is not what it used to be.   For faster shipping I recommend Priority for anything over a pound.   It may end up not helping at all but at least there's a glimmer of hope.  I also recommend a 3 day handling time so the buyer's expectations match the current USPS lag time.

There is some very serious delays at SOME processing facilities. This is due to consolidation of multiple facilities.

Right now Indianapolis is the absolute worst but there are other facilities where the problems are also happening. There has also been an unusual amount of weather issues during March and in places where weather delays are not common.

In addition, in order to reduce costs USPS has pretty much stopped sending out trucks that are only half full plus routing based on cost rather than delivery speed so you may see odd stops along the way to the destination.

im in the atlanta area and its been bad for years , but this year is the worst ive ever scene , the USPS need to add us to thee service alerts , as some scans are not showing for a week and taking weeks to arrive at its destination  when the package was originally to be delivered in 3-5 days .

Im near St Louis and its a mess. My Priority packages are taking 7 to 8 days.

Wish I had seen this comment sooner.  The other day (evening) I had a customer ask me if I could ship a package quickly as they were going out of town.  I explained that I would ship it the next morning but that USPS is having serious delivery issues so I could not guarantee that the package would get there quickly.   I had not read anything about Priority packages also being delayed so I decided to "experiment" and see if PM is any quicker.  I paid the extra money and sent his package Priority.  Watching the tracking, that package is moving just as slowly as GA.

Yes - Its so frustrating. With my son in laws birthday this past Saturday, I decided to send him a Visa gift card instead of a different one,  so on top of $8 activation fee, I paid over $10 to send it priority a week before, so he would at least get it on time or just a day or so early.  It took 8 days, so he got it late anyway.

The 3 day is a good idea, I don't think ebay will like it but it's not them who takes the blame or the hit on their account, If things don't go well.

ebay is getting slow and other businesses too due to high tariffs imposed on import. so where consumer buy 3 items now will by 1. bad for consumer and bad for consumer

I mainly sell on whatnot, I dropped off orders on Monday they didn’t hit another facility until today (Friday) and it was not even an hour away 😭. It’s main reason why I googled why they are being so slow. It definitely sucks when you don’t get paid until items are delivered (almost at 1k sales🥲)

My priority packages and ground took 4 days to get an hour away 😭

I sent a package USPS Priority from Riverside, IA, to Eufaula, AL, that took 17 days - and a missing package search - for the buyer to receive it earlier this week. Fortunately, the buyer was very understanding.

Try UPS instead.
