Hello all,
I want to link an Instagram page under the product description section to promote my brand but wish to check first if that's allowed. I've looked through Ebay Seller's policy and didn't see anything about it so I thought I'd double check with community members. Thanks in advace!

That's a no no and will likely get you suspended. You cannot attach a link on your listing, as it suggests you are doing business outside the ebay platform and more than likely your account will cease to exist.

Thank you for the answer.
Would it be okay if I were to take out the hyperlink to IG and just leave a comment in the product description section, along the lines of "Check us out @instagramname for discounts" or would that still be out of the line in Ebay standards?

Still would be against rules as advertising to take sales off of eBay is a no no and will surely get your account in trouble

If visitors to Instagram are able to purchase items outside of eBay, then no.

Great idea! But eBay won't allow it for a multitude of reasons.

No. And it is not worth being permanently suspended over this, which will happen. eBay does not provide its platform so that you can use it to direct people off eBay for sales.
Here is the policy, and it is quite clear:

That's still a no no. It suggests you want to do business outside the ebay platform once again. Leave anything that suggests this out of your listings. People here are trying to help you. No links, email addresses, or apps mentioned on your listing page. Sometimes the bots can spot them as well and won't let you insert them. Be careful, friend.

Hi @chka-2646
You CANNOT put anything in your eBay listing that leads the buyer to a non-eBay site where the buyer can purchase items from you without eBay taking a cut.
You CAN put a notice/card in the box when you ship the item to an eBay buyer.

Despite the excellent advice you are getting here it sounds like you are bound and determined to not pay EBay their fees. But, of course, willing to use their site to reach millions of buyers for free. If you think you can outsmart eBay you may be in for a huge surprise when you find yourself suspended. And when eBay says it is permanent that is forever with no way to go back. Is it worth it? I’m guessing you have other ways to sell or you would be hardly this cavalier about jeopardizing your account.

If Instagram allows it, you can promote your eBay items with the Partner Network.
https://partnernetwork.ebay.com/
You can create a link to any eBay page - an individual item, a category page, search results, or even the eBay home page.
Sign in at https://partner.ebay.com/ and you can see all the different link-building tools using the "Tools" dropdown. You can also use the "create a promotable link" section on the home dashboard - just paste in the URL of the eBay page you want to promote, and you'll get the EPN link.

eBay wants to keep all transactions happening within their platform. This ensures they get their transaction fees and maintain control over the buying and selling process.
Directing buyers away from eBay can lead to them missing out on important information. This includes things like feedback ratings, return policies, and eBay's buyer protection programs.
It can create a less-than-professional experience for buyers. Having to jump back and forth between eBay and your Instagram page can be disruptive and inconvenient.
Instead of linking to your Instagram page, there are other ways to promote your brand within eBay listings:
Use high-quality product photos and videos. This will showcase your products in the best possible light and make them more appealing to buyers.
Write detailed and informative product descriptions. Highlight the features and benefits of your products, and use keywords that potential buyers are likely to search for.
Offer excellent customer service. Respond promptly to buyer questions, and be helpful and polite. This will build trust and encourage repeat business.
Promote your eBay listings on social media. You can share links to your listings on your Instagram page, Facebook page, etc. Just be sure to avoid including any calls to action that would take buyers off of eBay.

Hello EBAY Community,
While eBay's policies do not explicitly mention Instagram links in product descriptions, it's essential to ensure that any external links you include do not violate eBay's rules about directing traffic away from their platform or promoting off-eBay sales. Many sellers have successfully included social media links for branding purposes, but it's always a good idea to double-check with eBay's support team for a definitive answer. Additionally, if you're looking to manage your Instagram account from a PC, you might find Instagram Honista for PC to be a useful tool. It offers a great way to handle your posts and interactions seamlessly.
Best Regards!!!
