Is it safe to sell New cell phones on ebay

I have a brand new sealed unlocked clean Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra + 5G 128Gb that I cannot return because I waited too long. I have a good store account in good standing. Is it safe to sell this item on here? I'm afraid of some kind of fraud happening to me or somebody doing the old switch trick for a refund and free phone.

Don't, sell it locally.

One of the highest scam items on Ebay and you will have no protection.

Absolutely not. Probably one of the worst, if not THE WORST thing to sell here on eBay.

There is a risk of fraud with every transaction on eBay.

Any buyer can steal any item from any seller at any time by filing a fraudulent dispute.

No one here can predict whether your particular transaction will be subject to fraud.

But as others have stated, expensive cell phones seem to be a magnet for fraud.

     As others have already mentioned cell phones are like a big target for scammers. If you are going to sell be sure you record the IMEI number for the phone. This is something you may also want to note in your listing. Having the IMEI number gives you the ability to report the phone to one of several blacklists that basically disables the phone and records it as stolen. Big deterrent to scammers but something that I would still not recommend posting on eBay. 

     There are simply to many other easy and safer ways to sell the phone.

   With items like this, you do have to be concerned with fraud - really concerned.

   The best way to handle the sale of the phone is to use Craig's List or something similar. That way the potential buyer has to come to you at a place of your choosing, have cash in hand, see the item in its current sealed condition (take photos!) , buy it as-is with no returns, and then leave. Sale concluded with no repercussions.

   Ebay is not a good venue for trying to sell such items as this because of the multiple types of scams that could eventually take from you BOTH your phone and your forced-refund money. It happens too often with very shrewd scammers. That is one reason why I no longer sell any item with a value of over $80, and will not until Ebay addresses the scamming issues.

   Ebay has yet to adequately address the different types of scams that keep popping up, in order for sellers of such higher-end items to be reasonably protected.

I wouldn't count too much on that thinking.  Some Ikebana sell for (and are worth) a whole lot more than you might think.
