So, one of the video games I'm thinking of selling (a collection of old arcade games in one bundle) does not save high scores when it is powered off. One comment I found on another site, however, suggests that this is normal for this particular collection. I want to be sure that this is true, since I don't want to sell the game if it is not fully functional.
I've asked about and tried to find this information elsewhere, but so far I haven't found anything useful. Would it be acceptable to ask other sellers who are selling the same game about this function?

Awe sweetie I see you have been trying hard to find the answer.. Posting on Reddit and Youtube- I think it was you yes?
I asked my son about this and he said it's common for them to have saved at one time but if they have an internal battery once that's done, the save isn't available anymore.
There are some people that have videos and info to replace it, to make it save again.
I haven't found any info on if this specific title had a save or an internal battery yet..
You are correct Pikabo... the old cartridge games have batteries that, although they last a very long time, will die. The batteries can be replaced, but a special "nintendo" screwdriver may be needed to open it up.
Saving is important to some buyers, so it should be mentioned.

Nothing is stopping you from asking, but you may not get any replies, assuming that the seller would even know. Many sellers here are just reselling stuff they've picked up elsewhere.

I've picked the brain of other sellers before, but only in very very rare cases. Upon receipt of a helpful response I also stated that, in appreciation, I would be willing to work with them on an offer on anything I was selling that interested them. I think I had one person take me up on it.
All in all, it was a positive experience. Not sure how it would go in THIS day and age.

There's nothing wrong with asking for help, they may not reply but you can ask..
What about posting the question on the Video Games Board and see if you get any help there?

I use the Steam forums quite a bit to ask about video games (especially older ones) and qualifiers on games. The people that post are really knowledgeable. You can also ask on Giant Bomb & Rock Paper Shotgun, but depends on who is online, etc.
Steam is great for specifics about games, features, add-ons, etc. Someone on there will know in a heartbeat about your game, etc. Good luck! (p.s. this is an e-Bay forum so I did not link to those sites, but just google them - really easy to find)

I've helped fellow sellers before if they're stuck on something I happen to sell or know about.
As well, I've had seller contact me with information on a listing that I've struggled with - I'm always very appreciative!

I've never been to Steam.. I've been to Reddit..
I'm lucky in the video game, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh card area, my son has collected for forever and helps me with that stuff.
I've only ever listed one card but it was an expensive one..
He has so many.. He wants me to sell them for him- I said NO WAY! lol He can list those himself..

There are many sellers who do not like giving other sellers info. They are scared of the competition, because by giving you something that could get yours sold while theirs just sits there. What I would do is ask as a buyer and not give any specifics. Just ask if the game saves the high scores when powered off and see what they say.

GOG rules! Steam drools!
But yeah. Steam can be good for game questions. You may also want to look into Facebook groups for retro games.
Other than that, can't hurt to ask.
