Is it bad to not wait the 4 days?

I accepted an offer on December 12th for an item.  I've sent two messages and an invoice and have heard nothing back.  I would like to cancel the order and re-list.  Is this frowned upon by eBay?  Am I supposed to wait the 4 full days?  If I cancel, what option should I use?  Not available?

I had the same problem...if you wait 4 days "cancel due to non-payment" option will appear.     That way when you cancel buyer will get a defect for "non payment".

Why are you sending messages and an invoice?

eBay sends the invoice. They have 4 days to pay.

You can cancel because nobody can force you to ship but if you cancel you'll get a defect.

You run a risk of canceling before the 4 days......because there is no "legit" reason that can be applied that won't hurt you........i.e. buyer asked to cancel......nope they didn't and too many of these can cause ebay to "look" into it...........item not available..........that's an out of stock which REALLY can hurt you.

Also, just for info......every time you send an invoice, it resets the 4 day clock for nonpayment.  So don't do that, unless you have a good reason ........ie. need to change shipping, etc.......

@fab_finds4u @dhbookds Sorry I should have clarified.  Ebay sent the invoice.  I sent a standard greeting thanks for purchasing message I send to everyone when they make a purchase.  Sent a reminder message the next da

I'm just new to eBay and have had quite a few scammers and more than one person who did what this person is doing.  I don't think this person is a scammer.  My question was more for advice, information gathering from you experienced folk.

@donsdetour

Typically, there are no fees unless the buyer pays.

IMO, the highlighted verbiage in the above quote is the very most important reason for any seller to use the cancellation process for nonpaid transactions.

Most savvy sellers have their block in place for a buyer who has two or more nonpayment strikes in the last twelve months. If sellers don't give buyers that strike, it doesn't do other sellers any good to even have that block. Sellers have an obligation, IMO, to help block these deadbeat members by using that cancellation option that gives the member the nonpayment strike. Otherwise, what's the point?

@tthodgepodge

It is best to wait the 4 days and cancel for non-payment. The buyer will get a defect and sellers can block buyers who purchase items and do not pay.

If the buyer requests you to cancel the purchase, you can cancel with reason buyer request. Neither the buyer nor you will receive a defect. You can choose to ignore the request and cancel after 4 days for non-payment.

If you don't want to wait the four days, you can cancel with reason item not available and relist. Buyer will not receive a defect. You will receive a defect.
