Is ebay changing the Global Shipping Program rules and not telling anybody?

I just sold an item in the Global Shipping Program for the first time in years due to a HUGE change in USPS international policy that nobody is talking about.

So instead of sending it to Erlanger KY distribution center, they tell me to ship it directly to the buyer now (in Canada) COMPLETELY BYPASSING THE ERLANGER DISTRIBUTION CENTER.

When I see these types of logistical changes that get swept under the rug by eBay (for YOU and ME to figure out) I can only think nothing good of this can happen to the seller, only the buyer and of course their enabler, ebay.

Now, even though the phone rep at ebay customer service couldnt tell me why it was being sent directly to the customer, he did say the the EBAY GLOBAL SHIPPING STANDARD DELIVERY option provides insurance... , but then also said something about refunding USPS the shipping money YOU paid for, so its not really coverage is it? Im so confused here and the actual people that make these rules (ebay) cant tell me ANYTHING? So how am I supposed to ship internationally now? USPS wont track international parcel to its destination as of last year so basically its a **bleep** shoot until ebay (A BLUE CHIP , PUBLICALLY TRADED COMPANY) can start giving me some straight answers... smoke and mirrors all day long I just gave up.

I swear im doing business with Organized Crime or better yet a Cartel...thats what this is starting to feel like.

Re: Is ebay changing the Global Shipping Program rules and not telling anybody?

If you used the GSP they would not have asked you to ship it directly to the customer.

I checked some of your listings. You are not using GSP.

Are you sure?

Re: Is ebay changing the Global Shipping Program rules and not telling anybody?

I'm in Canada, and when I look at your listings, some display GSP, some ISD and some no shipping costs.

If you give the item number, I can check to see what shipping service was selected for Canada.

I can confirm, tho, that my GSP purchases still go through Erlanger.

Re: Is ebay changing the Global Shipping Program rules and not telling anybody?

Take a breath....although confusing, this isn't as bad as you may think.)

Some of your listings are set up with the global shipping program and some are set up to show that you are shipping with Ebay International Standard Delivery(EISD) . Some of your sold listings are also set up to ship with EISD including the  Bachman and Wolfpack that just sold    I'm guessing that you accidentally used that setting on one listing and then when using sell similar it kept getting used on some of your other listings.  The gsp are EISD are both ebay programs but are slightly different.

I don't know why but for Canada they sometimes have the seller send EISD items to Canada to one of the depots in the US and other times, they have the seller send them directly to the buyer.  This actually might work in your favor as items shipped directly are often faster than those that go to the US depot and then get transferred to another carrier to Canada.  How did you know that they wanted you to send it with USPS? Is that what it showed when you printed the ebay international standard label?

USPS does have full tracking to Canada for first class international as long as you buy your postage online so there shouldn't be a problem in that way.    I'm not sure what you mean by the agent saying something about refunding the postage money?  The buyer would already have paid you $19 for shipping so you won't be paying for the label out of pocket.  The insurance wouldn't be through the usps if you are using EISD it would be through ebay's program.    I don't know for sure but I would think if ebay knows your listing was set up for EISD that when you print a label with that option they will give you a USPS label but I'm just guessing.

If you want to only use the gsp on your items, then you will to go back through your listings and make sure that you don't have international standard delivery set up on any of them.  When I look at your listings from Canada, you have some gsp listings, some EISD and some with no shipping to Canada at all.

Here is more info on the EISD program.

@veritechsupply

The U-Boat listing wasn't set up to use the GSP.

It shows "eBay International Standard Delivery"

Have a great day.

Re: Is ebay changing the Global Shipping Program rules and not telling anybody?

I don't recommend EISD. Stick to USPS or GSP. EISD is fraught with issues including lengthy delivery times. Note: the carrier for EISD is DHL and they too get shipped to a US depot, then on to a DHS Depot, then to the postal carrier in the country of delivery.

Also, note eBay is the customer for EISD not you as the seller. DHL will not provide CS for issues if you call them and eBay does not provide CS as they claim its not their product even though their name is on it.

Re: Is ebay changing the Global Shipping Program rules and not telling anybody?

Id never voluntarily use any of those "programs".

And would never use GSP willingly again after I have learned  ebay instructs their sorters in KY to open all GSP packages possibly damaging the merchandise.

I was driven to this forum because of USPS changing their international tracking policies and then getting scammed out of commisions from international buyers because of what I see as a loophole in the money back guarantee policy.

Back around 2019 Im told from USPS employees directly to my face that Postal Inspector General Lovejoy stopped all international delivery confirmation (on whatever class of postage i was using) before trying out EISD (which so far... seems pretty useless id rather just send with USPS delivery confirmation like before)

Since to me its a HUGE tweak to USPS logistics and how they run International mail, I just assumed eBay would reach out and make this development known to their sellers and to get ready and make policy changes to prepare for it.

I dont know if im in the Twilight Zone... but up until about 6 months ago I have only shipped directly from my shop to the buyer for international orders (for the most part) and never had an issue, I also charged whatever I wanted, and  no matter what country I shipped to.... I ALWAYS got a delivery confirmation as part of the international fee i paid USPS.

So there were no problems

Then the "quiet change" happened , I never heard anything about it and most other sellers didnt either.

Thats a game changer policy for my international sales and not a peep out of anyone... thats weird.

Id never use GSP willingly , ebay instructs their sorters to open GSP packages and it can damage the merchandise, and I always suspected they pocketed anything left over from the international fee I charged.

I didnt buy into any of these "protections" like the EISD or GSP because I cant trust ebay (and many here know exactly what Im talking about)

In the old days before mangled payments, I always had done better with my business keeping ebay as minimally involved as possible for EVERY transaction.

And it is still a great policy to for my business to this day, but they keep taking more and more control and the way its done is like how the Mafia works.

The only thing good eBay to can do for me is provide me traffic, thats it... otherwise I cant help but look at them as predators exploiting the little guy.

They are constantly re-writing the rules to the point of exhaustion, so when I see HUGE changes in the way eBays biggest parcel carrier, USPS is handling their international shipping..... and then eBay says nothing, (that created a loophole that backfires on sellers NOT participating in ebays smoke and mirror programs and nobody really seems to care.

All I know is USPS made huge changes, and the only solution now is to pay ebay more money to secure the transaction?

So if I cant get delivery confirmation on my own, how the heck can ebay?

I dont even know where to begin with this, the fact that ebay seems to make everything so hard with every update is crazy making.

The REAL question I have is why arent HUGE changes like the cancelation of international delivery confirmation at USPS not a discussed topic, ANYWHERE? try searching it out...I cant find anything.

I actually made ALOT more money on international orders doing it my way , that is until USPS made the changes and I had to find out the hardway that ebay is asleep at the wheel again , but still collecting of course.

I should have to be forced into including ebay for the shipping, as it is they already chrage a percentage of the actual shipping...now they want you to buy their own parcel add on too? ENOUGH!

Ive dealt with these guys long enough to know theres absolutely no way ebay will offer protections to me before themselves, so Im considering just stopping International sales all together until I can find a better way with another carrier.

Re: Is ebay changing the Global Shipping Program rules and not telling anybody?

I thought GSP and EISD was the same thing, but in this casr I guess the GSP wasnt clicked on... regardless, i dont want to use anything ebay has to offer it worked great when I could just do it with USPS and charge what ever I wanted for shipping, cant do that anymore apparently thanks to a change in policy with international delivery confirmation, and even though it was public record, basically noboy knew about it so now if you dont participate in these programs you are running a HUGE risk sending outside the country.

A huge policy change I never saw coming and has put me in the crosshairs of thieving European buyers because of this loophole and its not being pointed out by ebay and I feel it should be.

Its experiences like this that make me want to go get a day job again

Re: Is ebay changing the Global Shipping Program rules and not telling anybody?

Some templates were recycled and the GSP selection wasnt checked because I never needed to use it. I made WAY more shipping international myself with no worries until the new postal inspector general stopped international shipping delivery confirmation. Never knew anything about it, now im at risk because with no delivery confirmation theres no stopping ebay from basically making me give the buyer a free toy with free shipping to Germany... TWICE. A total technicality, I feel its ebays job to provide these types of updates to sellers, instead they skip the details and recommend (force) you to pay them to guarantee delivery...all while taking a percentage on the shipping costs YOU gotta pay..Lol  Its starting to feel like a racket...the ability to do things the way I want was a great thing... but ebay seems to be,taking more and more control this feels ike a digital shell game . ebay just feels shady lately my relationship is that of love and hate, very frustrating I have to change ANYTHING again after managed payments, this platform sucks

Clearly false. It’s optional, and you’re using it.

You can write all the paragraphs you want, this is still a PEBKAC.

Re: Is ebay changing the Global Shipping Program rules and not telling anybody?

whats a PEBKAC? Yeah Im using GSP recently again but if I dont im putting my **bleep** on the chopping block, so if I didnt have to use it to protect my product, money and reputation I wouldnt.

So what im saying is correct from a certain point of view.... Its only because of this USPS policy change that I even have to scramble to figure out another way...all the solutions im getting from other sellers is to do exactly what ive been saying, NO EBAY AFTER THE ACTUAL SALE. .. just cant trust them, all they can do is **bleep** things up, this of course is based off of the last 8 years i have dealt with them. Just not into playing this scam much longer I ve already got pages on other platforms now I had no choice ....**bleep** ebay , sick of the smoke and mirrors

You chose the wrong shipping program. Have you checked all of your listings to correct any other errors?

Re: Is ebay changing the Global Shipping Program rules and not telling anybody?

There are no errors, I check boxes all the time and then ebay unchecks them, I type tracking numbers in , they are gone the next day...

Unaware of the "HUGE" change in USPS international policy that nobody is talking about can you elaborate on that more or provide a link?
