Is eBay Shadowbanning Me?

I sell AirPods, and I had very good sales, with hundreds of views an hour. All of a sudden, some of my posts were removed for “counterfeit”. Now, when I make a new listing, I get zero views. I have left one on for about 12 hours and not a single view. Is there something about eBays algorithm that makes me lose views? I am promoting as well at 8.8%.

eBay does not shadow ban. They ban you to your face and are quick about it, often times with no clear reason or ability to appeal.

AirPods are frequently removed because of the number of counterfeits. If you've had AirPods removed before, it's generally a product you do not want to attempt to list again. Your account is already flagged.

You only have 30 something listings, mostly preowned games for older gaming systems. It's "normal" that you would have low traffic.

That said, many sellers are reporting drastic changes in views/sales the past few months - something that goes beyond eBay's change in the way views are counted. Are you affected by that? Too little info to make a determination, but based on what you're selling, the low number of listings, and the fact that accounts with policy violations typically see 4-6 weeks of search demotion I would say there are other things you're dealing with. My two cents.

To clarify: I do not see a search demotion as shadow banning. It's no secret that eBay uses best match algorithms due to the massive quantity of listings they deal with. Those algorithms apply to all sellers, even those without policy violations. Everything from price to return policy to buyer engagement to account health plays a factor.

If you are asking whether policy violations can have an effect on your placement in Best Match searches, the answer is yes.

But also be aware that eBay changed how views are counted, so that they now (a) ignore "views" by bots and web crawlers, and (b) only count views from the previous 30 days. So comparing your views from earlier in the year to what you are getting now is comparing apples and oranges.

Probably are doing that due to you were selling counterfeit: you give em a right to do so by using eBay.

You will have much more to worry about than shadows. If you relist those Airpods again Ebay will ban you for life. When they remove and say do not relist, they mean it.

1) Yes but do they send you an email or message saying that they have banned you for life, or do they shadow ban you for life? And meanwhile keep sending you messages about promotions for selling new things to your messages inbox at the same time that they have (shadow) banned you for life?

2) Can you open a new account?

I got flagged for selling a counterfeit vintage sweatshirt from 1993 that was legit and had all the same things in the title that other sweatshirts like it had.

Then I re-listed it, taking out the one word in the title that I thought could possibly have bothered someone.

Thank you.

There are 29000+ listings for Airpods.

If you are beyond the first few pages you are unlikely to get any views.

You have been demoted in the Best Match results if you have sold counterfeits.

No. eBay does not do that. If they ban, it's 100% and for life.   As stated, stop listing those and remove any you still have listed if you want to keep selling here.
