Seems like everything I sell they wait and wait and wait to release it. I've had to literally call and yell at them to release my funds even after items are delivered. Oh we have to wait until its delivered. Oh we have to wait until the buyer posts positive feedback and we have proof of delivery. I ask what other selling platform are you forced to ship an item to someone and wait WEEKS before you get paid. Its pure insanity. I can't tell you how much a deeply hate Ebay, but for certain items there is no other alternative at this time. I really hope Ebay fails and some better platform comes along. I only sell maybe an item a month now because of this. Everything else I sell on Facebook marketplace. Ebay if you are reading this do you realize how many other people you turn off with this tactic of holding funds hostage. But we all know the answer, I've said it before, the only way Ebay can turn a profit is by cooking the books showing how much cash they hold when most of it is cash they are holding for payouts. Its a massive pyramid scheme and without this policy in place they already would have gone under.

If you don't sell for a time, you are considered new again and they can hold your funds for 30 days. And it's not just eBay. Other sites, including PayPal are holding funds for infrequent sellers. These companies do not want any chance at all that their own funds may be needed to cover a refund.

It's no secret ebay will hold funds for up to 30 days (or so) for new, or infrequent sellers. There's no need to call and yell at them. Coming from a customer service background, I became less and less inclined to help a customer the more and louder they yelled.

I'm not defending...(primarily because I do get funds within 2 days)
however, most of the platforms have extensive holds on items due to the high probability of stolen items being sold indiscriminately on their platforms (amz, ebay, etsy, poshmark)
the vetting process does not eliminate all the ne'r do gooders, but it helps.....
I personally think they are under pressure from law enforcement to weed out these sellers.....
I am NOT implying this is your situation, just trying to justify why this is happening now and not 15 years ago (the "wild west" days)

Is Ebay holding funds for weeks the new normal?
I suppose so. It's policy, anyway. Hang in there. >> Payments on hold | eBay

"Is eBay holding funds for weeks the new normal?"
Maybe not the new normal for eBay.
BUT it is the current normal for eBay to hold funds and not release them for as long as 30 days --
from new sellers or sellers who are returning to eBay after a long absence.
I hope you give eBay some more time and list a few more things. They don't have to be expensive; just get a few more sales under your belt. Maybe when you get a little more experience with selling on eBay you may drop your hatred, and learn not to hope for the failure of any other person or entity. That kind of negativity will hurt you ultimately.
Oh, and if you called and yelled at me to release <anything>, I would hang up on you.

Sure but they did it to me two times in a row, and the item was delivered to my customer and almost a week later I still wasnt paid, this was after I "paid the penalty of not selling enough" and had my account audited and funds held for 30 days. Of course how convenient they were "just about to release the funds" the same day I called.

They will do it to you repeatedly until you reestablish yourself as a reliable seller. Just keep selling. It will happen.

As others have posted, you seem to be an infrequent seller.
New or infrequent sellers will experience transaction holds while learning best selling practices. This helps sellers become established and build a strong selling history on eBay. New sellers typically experience holds for up to 14 days, although sometimes it may be longer.
Ebay just wants to ensure that the transactions go positively and in the event of a return, whether it's not as received or not as described, the funds are there to refund the buyer.
Congrats on your great sales! The time will go quickly.
Happy Selling.

As you've been told by others, you're a new/infrequent seller so you're money is subject to holds. I also think at least part of the reason for the extended hold time is because of the types of items you've sold and their prices.
You've had 3 excellent sales for high fraud brand name handbag and jewelry items and because of the potential for fraud and returns, ebay seems to be holding on to your funds even longer.
(I wish I'd sold 3 items for a $5K total!)

Sometimes when I have a period of slow sales followed by a spike in sales over a short time frame I'll see these holds. Don't know why, but it has happened to me more than once. However, I've never had to wait beyond item delivery date
