I just got an invoice this morning saying I owe money for selling on EBay and it will come out of my Paypal between August 30 and September 1st. I’m new to selling so just wondering what this is about

eBay charges insertion and final value fees. The final value fee is percentage of the total cost the buyer pays.

The final value fees for DVDs is 12%. eBay charged 12% of the auction price when it sold, and they charge 12% of the S&H when the buyer pays.

"Free to list" does not equal "Free to sell"
eBay charges a Final Value Fee on every item sold. The fee is a percentage of the Total Sale (item+shipping)

In media categories, this percentage is 12%
eBay invoices you once a month for these fees.
And if you haven't noticed ... PayPal also charges you a fee that they take directly from the payment. 2.9%+0.30 ... on the total amount of the sale

it's the final value fees...ebay takes a percentage of everything you sell. your billed once a month for it. i sell on another site and they take out their fee once the buyer receives the product and before they release my money to me. it makes things a lot easier. wish ebay would do it the same way but i doubt will ever happen.

eBay is a for-profit business, and they charge you a fee to use their service.
Did you read the fine print?
