The internet radio "Gateway" company, Reciva, will shut down on Jan 31, 2021. Any radio using Reciva, including all Grace Digital radios manufactured before 2017, will be deactivated. Radios from many other companies will be deactivated as well. Many such radios are now listed on Ebay and no one is aware of this time bomb. Deactivated, in this case, means dead, doorstop, paper weight, will never work again. I hope Ebay will note this situation and perhaps put a warning on internet radio listings for buyers to be sure of what they are getting.

Today is now T+100 days since April 30th, the supposed last day for Reciva.
August 8th and Reciva lives on (with the Reciva login still available on Rotel and other sites that still maintain a server on Reciva’s site).
My theory of why? They received a legal challenge and so they postponed the full shutdown. I cannot prove this.
Rotel and others may have stepped in to force Reciva to stay alive until everything is settled.
Enjoy the time you have but no new updates from any official source seem available yet.

Funny, we just dusted off our old Grace radio and got the message that Reciva is gone. What a waste. Unlike other "obsolete" things people discussed in this thread, this thing really is a brick. Old cassettes or records can still be played on their original equipment; an old XP computer can still be used to run the programs it was originally able to, and so on. I can't think of anything quite as bad as this off the top of my head.
