My listing for an Inogen Oxygen concentrator was removed by ebay and because it is on their list as an item needing a prescription. This item can be purchased directly off the manufacturer's website WITHOUT a prescription. Also there are several of these items currently for sale on ebay. Maybe the words "oxygen concentrator" have been left off the ebay listing description and thus remaining as valid listings under the radar. This item should be able to be listed on ebay without this unwarranted restriction. If you need one, go to their site and spend the big bucks because you won't be able to buy mine for a fair price.

My guess is Inogen doesn't want it to be sold on Ebay. Don't relist it or it could jeopardize your account.
Happy Holidays.

Hi!
My O2 supplies were just taken down & had been up for years. Oh well you can not win with them....

I sold a concentrator for $500 and then they took the second one down. I still have it. Might see if I can fuel a fire with it. Don’t put it back up. You may be right but its a battle you won’t win.
Sell it on Amazon. Its will probably get stolen or broken but maybe not. The fees will be 75% but they will split it up into 30 different fees to make you feel better.

I used to sell the Berg polar care Kodiak which is no more than a fancy ice pack, had sold quite a few over the years, 6 months ago they took it down as a "medical device" they can be bought in many places, all over Amazon, no precipitation needed.
I really think that the source of this is the manufacturers.

Inogen Oxygen Concentrator does NOT need a prescription!
Tell that to the FDA. The government website says
"Pulse Oximeters and Oxygen Concentrators: What to know about at home Oxygen therapy"
"Oxygen concentrators are medical devices required to be sold and used only with a prescription."
I'm pretty sure you can buy them online from Inogen but at some point in the order details I'm sure you'll need to provide a prescription.

Just sell it somewhere else, ebay doesn't want the business. I had a non prescription item removed a week or so ago even though there are hundreds listed, I have sold them before, and it is not even something a person would be using on themselves. I just moved it to a different site that wants the business.
Heck, I once had ebay remove a KEYPAD controller because they said it fell under their prescription policy. All I could do was shake my head and laugh and move it to another site where it sold within a week or so (it was listed on ebay for over 3 years with no other competition).

Even though we all breathe O2, these oxygen systems deliver a higher concentration of O2 therefore it is considered a drug by the FDA and requires a prescription.
A person who has lung issues such as COPD or asthma cannot tolerate high concentrations of Oxygen and it could actually harm/kill them.
Please consider donating this item to a facility that delivers home oxygen units as they may have some low income folks that could benefit from it.
Ebay is correct on this matter don't resist this.

It turns out you are just plain wrong.
The Inogen website itself explicitly states that you DO need a prescription:

Regardless of a prescription or not it is a medical device used to save lives. Ebay has a right to remove such a thing. Now days anyone could get sued, including yourself for selling it if a person died because it malfunctioned.

Gosh... so glad I am just "plain wrong." Sure would hate to be fancifully wrong or complexly wrong 🙂 My point was others are still selling this item on ebay. And Inogen "seemed" to be selling directly (maybe if you buy online and you get further down the order process they ask for a prescription). I actually bought this same unit for my mother directly from Inogen by calling them on the telephone without a prescription. She had COPD and this portable unit was a plain lifesaver for allowing her to move around the house without being tethered to her really big oxygen machine. But then, she knew what she was doing. It is probably true that someone might buy one of these and use it improperly. I stand plainly corrected on this point. Thank you.

You are right. Not worth running afoul with ebay. I have never tried to sell anything before so it was kinda surprising. But I was just grousing because I assumed I could sell this on ebay because I saw others listing this same unit. After I received ebay notice I went to the Inogen site and it appeared you could buy it directly online. And since I purchased this unit over the telephone from Inogen it never dawned on me that it was a medical device needing a prescription. Live, learn, and cooperate! Thanks.

I should have mentioned in my personal rant that an oxygen concentrator DOES need a prescription so you should not attempt to sell that item anywhere.
When I said to "just sell it somewhere else" I was referring to any non prescription item that gets wrongfully removed under that prescription policy. It's just not worth battling to try to get an approval to sell.
