I have always included a Best Offer in my listings and have gotten reasonable offers. But in the past few months it seems that I've only received very low Best Offers. Today I received an offer that was 15% of the asking price. I have a wide range of listings and believe my prices are reasonable and I spend time on providing good descriptions/pictures. Should I stop using Best Offer? I'm also beginning to think that only resellers are buying these days. Any suggestions/thoughts?

It all depends on whether or not it's cost effective for you to spend your time replying to all the lowballers. Also, if just resellers are buying, then they have to be selling to someone, or they wouldn't be able to afford to buy right now. If the regular buyers are not buying, then neither are the sellers.

For the Best Offer, the prospective buyer has three chances, so it would be odd if the first offer s/he makes isn't a low one. You answer with a higher one, then s/he can make another offer and another after that if s/he still feels you price is too high.

Try RAISING your prices and then starting dickering or set the high/low prices ..........
I've sold to people offering 25% of the price at about 15 % off........

I use best offer sparingly, but when I do I decide what the least I will take is, and then then set reject anything lower and accept anything at that price or above. So I never see ANY low ball offers and prospective buyers never have to wait for an answer.
Feeling sleepy? There's an app for that.

There is nothing wrong with using Best Offer. The fact that you are using it means you are willing to accept a little less than asking price. Just set up your Best Offer to Automatically Decline Less Than the minimum you are willing to sell for.
This will keep the rediculous low ballers from wasting your time ; )

I've tried that on a number of occasions and it hasn't worked for me. I've found that those buyers who start with a very low best offer never accept a more reasonable counter offer and they rarely respond to a counter offer even to say "no". I've come to realize that the really low best offer people are only interested in a low price and are not really interested in the item being offered. But thanks for the reply.

Happy 4th to you.
Best offer works when you have a clear margin.
Say I have an item, the value is 200 bucks.
But I only paid 100 bucks.
So, anything over 100 and fees and shipping, is profit.
It is then up to me, what will I take on a best offer....
Is the rent due.... I take the offer...
are the bills paid.... and my belly fat.... well.... not so much on the offers.
Chicken today.... feathers tomorrow....

Thank you. Another poster made the same suggestion and it does make sense. I am going to try this approach and see how it goes.

Raised to ten offers? No, I hadn't heard about that. When did that happen?

A few weeks ago. Ebay neglected to tell the sellers about it though which is why you didn't hear.
When I said I loved a surprise, I should have been more specific.

Good grief. I wonder what on earth would be the reasoning behind allowing ten offers. Thanks, when I start listing again I'll have to remember that when I decide whether or not to use Best Offer. I've used it in the past and was always happy with results from the three.
