In creating a listing, the photos only go to the small boxes. There is no "main photo".

This just started happening.  Normally the first photo is put in the "main photo" box, and the subsequent photos go to the small boxes.  Ebay is no help at all, though the "automated assistant".  Where are real humans when we need them?

I'm not sure what you mean?  The main photo is the one showing on the search results page and the first one on the listing page.  On your listing page itself, everything looks normal to me.
