CDTFA/Tax Franchise filing help

I am filing with the Cali Tax Franchise Board (CDTFA),  and have a question:
For the 1st quarter, I made a few successful sales that I shipped.
However, I have also a few orders that I had to cancel.
So what do I include?
As far as the Federal IRS taxes, they likely would want me to include everything, and deduct in another field, but I just need to know about the tax franchise board.

Thank You

The CDTFA deals with sales tax. The IRS deals with federal Income tax. The  franchise tax board deals with State income tax in California.

If you are filing quarterly with the CDTFA, any sales tax collected on your sales will be handled by eBay and sent to the appropriate state/city/county/etc. there is a place on the form to indicate that sales tax was handled by a marketplace facilitator, in this case eBay.

if you canceled orders before the buyer paid, no sales tax was collected and there was no income to report to the franchise tax board.

If you canceled orders after the buyer paid, Then there was sales tax collected, and there was income to be reported.

"The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) administers California's sales and use, .... taxes, ..."

https://www.cdtfa.ca.gov/about.htm

The CDTFA is dealing with sales tax, so it has nothing to with income taxes for either the state of California or the IRS (federal income tax).

If you only sell on eBay, then eBay has collected and remitted all the sales tax that was due for your sales. In that case, you probably just need to file a zero-tax report, which essentially documents that you don't have any collected sales tax that you need to remit (send to the state).

If you also made sales to California residents that were not paid for on eBay (or any other marketplace) then you will need to file and remit the sales tax that you should have collected for those sales.

Follow the links on the page linked to above to get more information about that.

Yeah, I see the buyers get refunded when I cancel.
Is there a place where i can choose a selected date range, to give me the total number of sales?
Or should I just tally them up?

CDTFA/Tax Franchise filing help

"CDFTA/Tax Franchise filing help"

"I am filing with the Cali Tax Franchise Board (CDTFA) . . . ."

The California Franchise Tax Board (note the proper sequence of words) is not the CDFTA.

The CDTFA is the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration.  They collect and manage sales and use taxes and various state-imposed fees, which pay for services such as public safety, public libraries, public schools, etc.

The California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) is a completely separate entity within the state government.  They deal with individual and corporate/franchise income  taxes.   When you do your personal California income tax return in the late winter or spring, you have to send it to the CA FTB.

What you are asking about is reporting to the CDTFA.  While it is possible that somebody here in the Selling Community board of eBay may be able to tell you how they handle reports to the CDTFA, it seems possible that your situation may be very different from others.

You may find this website helpful: cdtfa.ca.gov.  There are two tabs near the top that might be helpful for you:  "How Do I . . ." and "Tax Resources."   If you scroll down further, you will also see links for Classes Online and Upcoming Events.

Hope this helps you !!

Under the Payments tab in your seller hub there are reports that can give you total sales, taxes collected, and other information you will need to file.

There is a drop-down menu that allows you to select the time period that you need.
