Immediate payment

We have immediate payment on all our listings. Somehow a buyer has committed to buy three items and requested an invoice. These items sit in our solds marked waiting for payment. eBay sent the auto generated message to us to send an invoice. The buyer is now demanding a discount, and refusing to pay. The non payment is no big deal, we’ll just wait him out then cancel.

How did he circumvent the immediate payment requirement? If we have a setting that is allowing this we’d like to close the hole.

I clicked on 3 of your listing they all say Buy It Now or add to your cart. So I would say, No your listings are not immediate payment required.IMG_0809.jpeg

You can put any item in a cart. How else would they get the shipping discount for multiple items? We haven’t had an immediate payment issue since we changed all of them to immediate payment.

Could be a glitch. eBay is acting up as we speak I click on my listing or yours and get the kid with the orange hoody saying we’ve looked everywhere.

Any buy it now item from any seller can be put in the cart. The way buyers get the shipping discount for multiple items is to put them all in their cart, then the discount is applied. If we didn’t have immediate payment required we would see committed to buy and requested invoice situations all the time, and have to wait for payment. We haven’t had that issue in years. I can’t remember the last time we sent an invoice or had a non payment. We had those issues weekly when we didn’t require immediately payment.

That would be the preferred reason. I can hope. I’ll probably just forget about it since it’s a one time thing.

Double check and make sure immediate payment required didn't get turn off.

I use IPR on all my listings and a few years ago, got an order that didn't pay and mine had been turned off.

Have a great day.

I find this very curious.  I will be interested to hear what you discover, if anything, when you review the set up on this listing as some other posters have suggested.

Now buyers can put items they want in the shopping cart and then from there request a total [if its working at the time].  Those items aren't purchased so it makes it easy to send the invoice with a discount on the shipping.

You sold three items.

EBay told you to bill the buyer.

You did  but the buyer is refusing to pay.

The buyer expects a discount (usually on shipping and this is a Standard Practice, even a Best Practice, in mail order).

The Buyer has 96 hours to pay the invoice you sent.

If they don't at 96hours and one second, you can open an Unpaid Item dispute and all three sales will be cancelled.

The buyer will get Strikes for the cancelled purchases and will not be able to leave feedback.

How much of a discount was the buyer asking?

Will the three items together ship for less than the three items shipped separately?

Is the discount more than your profit on the three sales?

From the desktop cart, a buyer can request a combined invoice by selecting "Request Total" tab, see screenshot below.

The only way I believe you can prevent this is by turning off combined shipping.  I've selected the "Request Total" button in the past and received a message: seller does not allow combined shipping, or something to that effect.  But, most of the time sellers are offering it when they have no shipping rules created.

Ok, correction to my post above:  if seller has immediate payment required a buyer is not supposed to be allowed to "Request Total" from the cart.

I just did a quick test from my accounts where I have IPR, and I received the message, "you can't request a total from items that require immediate payment" .  see screenshot below.

This is the message received when I try to request a total from your store: see screenshot below...like others stated above, can you post here when you figure out the cause.  Thanks.

I tried putting various items in the cart......and had "$5 shipping for each additional item" applied with no option to request total so I can't figure out what happened either.....unless one of those sold items somehow didn't have the "additional item" applied......
