Images in Description area - Is it this simple?

I have been trying to figure out how to add an image or logo in all of my descriptions without using a fancy template. My descriptions are a cut above basic but not more than that.

I was thinking I had to host the image and then insert a link, etc which I hate doing. I did several google searches and no luck.

Well, out of curiosity I opened up an image on my image software and simply copied and pasted into my description. That was it. I viewed the listing on a different browser and my phone and the image shows up.

Is it that easy?

eBay banned HTML content from descriptions several years ago.

If what you did works, maybe.  But most listings have a place to upload photos already.

I'm not sure what you mean. Can you provide a link to the listing?

I don't think so.  When you list or revise an item you have the choice of "standard" or "HTML".

OP: In order to put a image in the description area you have to learn/know a little HTML.

It's a tad more complicated.  You cannot have links going to other sites - even if the sites have nothing to do with selling anything (for instance, I used to provide links to manuals for computer equipment, those were disallowed).  You can have internal site links (say, to your other eBay store, group of listings, what have you).  Photos cannot be used in the description (for instance) unless they're hosted on an encrypted site, but they can be dragged and dropped into the description from any local directory.

Did you hotlink the image in your description? ....Because it's a picture of a popcorn machine that's on fire. 😂

Nope - no hotlinking (that wouldn't really be possible, though honestly I wish it still were) - it's just an image I had on my desktop that I dragged into the listing for an example.  Yeah, looks strange, I know lol.  It's a favourite image.

ETA: It was just an example of what the OP was talking about.
