I ran auctions today, a few stamp albums. I'm not known for doing that, so it was a bit of a bust. One buyer won most of them. In fact, he won so many, I don't even have a big enough box for all of them at once.
Now he's complaining about the shipping because it goes in two boxes. Like dude, you won one album for 99 cents, and another for 3.25. I'm sorry if you have to pay $22 and $18 to ship your two giant boxes of albums.
It would actually be a blessing in disguise if he refused to pay and cancelled... then I wouldn't lose money on the order. I took a gamble and lost, and lost money on the items. I'm not about to lose money on shipping too.
And not only do they stall on paying and fuss, but want me to ship "right away". Well if you want it shipped right away, pay right away when I send you the invoice after the auctions end. If you fuss with me about it for two hours, then you can wait until tomorrow or the next day when I do my next round of shipping. I'm done packing orders for tonight. His would have been one of them if he paid me before I was done packing the last order.

You put yourself in one of those bad situations.
You always should look at your auctions every day.
How many buyers watching?
None....only one or two bids....cancel it on the last day if the bid is like only a buck...the canceling bid fee is very little.
I had an auction and canceled it on the last day...eBay charged me .10 cents for a .99 cent bid. LOL.
I would take a hit on this one. It's too late.
Imagine how many negative feedbacks you will get?
One per each sale...even if he pays for everything in one payment.
And careful with the emails...even giving him a deal...with a hassle and discounted shipping those negatives could still bit.
If you are TRS seller or can get eBay to remove feedbacks than I wouldn't worry.
Selling stamps in a album I would never do.
I must have thrown out hundreds of albums with no stamps in them. There is no profit in used albums.
Well, good luck on this one. 'This one bites the bullet'.

I should probably cancel the ones that started today (or at least increase the minimum bid). We want to get rid of them, so that's why I did the auction thing. Some people are very successful at this, I'm not known for doing these. I can probably come up with a better solution (although I do think some of the albums we have might do OK).

No...the USA and China Albums will sell...'Shanghai' stamps are the main attraction of the China Album.
And USA stamps don't look like they were expertly identified.
Canada Album is so-so...start that at 20 bucks maybe.

Your USA album....is 5 dollar stamp hinged and the Zeppelin stamp hinged? That's the main attraction of that album...

I pulled a few that were listed (probably before you checked). I'm willing to gamble sometimes, but I think perhaps pulling pages out to make smaller lots which are cheaper to ship might be a smarter idea. I have all the photos of the pages, so at least I won't have to take pictures again.

Not the USA and China Albums...each one should go at $100.+ American dollars as a whole....don't break them up.

I believe pretty much everything is hinged. I didn't check each stamp, but they appear to have been pulled out of an older album and put into these hingeless albums.

As many would say...do a buy it now at the lowest price you can accept....with fees in consideration. Move that carp out.

I'm glad I no longer sell large, lumpy items.

Raise your prices! You seem like nice person and a conscientious seller.
I hate to see you work so hard to make so little.

I hope you use Calculated Shipping for bulky listings.
Since listing here means we Canadians have to use Flat Rate shipping, I list my heavy or bulky items on dotCA and use Canada Post pricing.
Our US sellers will see those prices in both US dollars and in loonies.

There's a point where you just donate a few boxes of almost empty albums to Value Village or St Vincent.

"Remember, Americans, four loonies to the dollar!"
(Old joke I used to hear in Vancouver).

Don't list an item for any less than you're willing to sell it for if it gets only 1 bid.
Weigh your items before listing so you don't get underpaid. If you combine shipping and send them an invoice with a reduced amount, that's just a bonus for them. But never try to charge more for shipping than the listing initially shows.
