If I uncombined shipping and send out in two boxes with 2 tracking # will there be an issue filing +

File an insurance claim? In other words, I sold two separate sets of plates and the buyer paid together. I understand I can just purchase two separate labels for the combined order and ship each in it's own box. However, my concern is that eBay will upload both tracking numbers for each set of plates. So if one package were to suffer any breakage or get lost  how do I go about proving which tracking number goes with which package when filing USPS claim. Obviously I am hoping this doesn't occur but just trying to protect myself. Thanks!

I would say that as long as you know which tracking number belongs to the damaged box, you would file the report on that, and not mention the other at all; treat it as if it doesn't exist.

Having said that, though, do be aware that the USPS may decline the claim anyway on the basis of improper packing. Their proof will be that the damage occurred. Smiley Frustrated If the box shows external damage, tire tracks on it or whatever, then you've got a good claim, but outside of that possibility, just pad them thoroughly, double-box, etc., all the Best Practices for shipping, and you should be fine. When you're done packing, you should be confident enough to throw the box down your own staircase.

Thank you I will do all of that. I actually had only one claim so far - it was a only a $20 item. However, the buyer wasn't entirely cooperative and would only send pictures of the broken item in the box with the packing materials kind of spread around. I did not get a picture of the outside of the box. I submitted and was refunded by USPS. I always go above and beyond to package my fragile items as if they could be thrown down the stairs, but still want to make sure I have the insurance protection if all else fails. I just wish eBay allowed to "uncombine" so I can just print one label for each and each tracking number uploads separately. Guess I'm out of luck with that one. I appreciate your response!
