No need to yell at us, which is what all caps means. This is a member to member Community Forum and we try to help those that have issues or need some guidance.
I'm sorry to here that your account fell Below Standard. It has been a rule for many years that if you fall Below Standard as a seller status, you are subject to the 6% penalty fee.
You didn't fall Below Standard because you didn't have enough sales. That has nothing to do with it. And I'm confident the email you got did not say that.
If you want to fix this pickle you are in, you really need to FIRST understand what got you there.
So take a look at your Seller Dashboard and see if there are any areas you got too many Defects in. This is something I advise sellers to do at a minimum of once a week so you can see an issue building and get proactive before you are Below Standard. There are arrows to the right of each section where you can get more detailed info in you need it. And on the Upper right side is a Tutorial Icon you can click on to learn more about the Dashboard. Here is a link.

If there is nothing on the Dashboard that caused your current issue, then check your Service Metrics numbers.

Once you find what caused you to fall Below Standard, please come back and tell us and we can help you with how to work yourself out of this issue.

I've never heard of any fee that is charged for "not selling enough"

I'm guessing this excessive heatwave is at least partly responsible for this hallucination.

It's not because you're not selling enough.
What caused you to drop below standard?

It seems you're frustrated about being charged an "underperformance fee" on eBay, especially as a small business. This fee likely applies when sales don't meet certain thresholds. It can be challenging, especially when you're trying to manage costs. Understanding the fee structure and possibly exploring other sales platforms or strategies could help in managing these additional charges.

"Did someone tell you that you would be employed by eBay and eBay would pay you to post product reviews, write forum posts, or grab orders? This is a scam, and they are setting you up to steal from you. The scammers will earn your trust with fake proof of their system, perhaps even let you withdraw very small payments, then they will tell you that you have to pay them to be able to withdraw more payments.
This is called a task scam or an order-grabbing scam. The fake company might use the name "eBay Mall" or a different name. Either way, it's a scam that has nothing to do with the real eBay.
eBay doesn't pay people to write forum posts, write product reviews, or grab orders. No legitimate company pays for this type of "work."
If the scammers ask you to sign up for a cryptocurrency account, don't do it. Don't give them any money; you won't get any of it back. More info: https://malwaretips.com/blogs/ebay-job-scam/
Also, it is against the rules to sell or promote your items on the community pages especially considering they are not listings on eBay.

If you are below standard and having to pay the 6% fee, you are being encouraged to either improve your performance or stop selling.
They are probably more interested in you leaving, than getting the extra money. If you continue to fail in meeting their performance standard, you will probably not have a choice other than to go.

It is actually called Below Standard fee. It is 6% and is charged to sellers that their status has dropped to below standard. That means they had too many Defects of one kind or another on their account.
I always recommend that sellers keep a close eye on their Seller Dashboard so they can see if they are getting into trouble somewhere in their stats. Then they can hopefully take action before they get their status dropped to Below Standard.
This is a problem for any size seller.
