Hey All,
Looking for clarification regarding the INFORM Consumers Act. At this link, https://www.ebay.com/sellercenter/resources/inform-consumers-act It states:
"If you reach an annual total revenue of $20,000, we’re required to include your name (or company name) and full physical address in purchase confirmation emails and order details."
I have NOT reached that revenue level. However, my full name & address DOES show on my packing slips. Please forgive my confusion, but, based on me NOT being at the $20,000.00 level, shouldn't my full info NOT show? I understand I can make an exemption request, but isn't that only if I do sell $20,000.00 or more per year?
My Bottom-line Question: Even if I am NOT at the higher levels mentioned in the article, can I still request an exemption, so that only my city & state show?
Thank u for your help. 😁
Tom

Understood, and thx for taking the time. However, I'm not wanting to have to
make an adjustment to my name & address each time I ship something. I'd want my
info to NOT appear not only on the packing slip but also not appear on the shipping
label.
@tpotterco then your issue has absolutely nothing to do with the INFORM Act and everything to do with carrier requirements - as mentioned above, you cannot ship packages without a return address.

You may need to look into getting a PO Box or see what services may be available through your local UPS store so that you can establish an alternate address to use for returns etc.

That info is out of date, you can check with your state and see what their requirement level is. And of course you know you should be declaring sales on any side hustle, no matter the amount.

Your name and address is on the shipping label, why wouldn't you want it on a packing slip?

Thx Rockstar.....Hmmmm....It's still on Ebay's site. I have no idea where to start if I need to check with my state. So, are you saying requesting an exemption thru Ebay is not even an option?
Thx, Tom

In the event some, shall I say, "Unstable" Buyer wants to pay me a visit at my residence. Can't be too careful these days.

You can customize your packing slip and exclude your name and address.

Yes, I realize I need to give Uncle Sam his cut. That is not my question. I am wanting to know how, in the interest of safety, from a potentially unhappy Buyer, paying me a visit where I live. 😁

An exemption from Ebay? Im sorry, Im confused, are you talking about a state tax exemption? I thought you were referring to federal tax guidelines. That can differ state to state, and you can Google to find the criteria for your state.

Yes it is. I don't think you can change that if you're buying labels from ebay. If you get your labels from the PO they might be able to leave off the return address.
Well I forgot about printing labels on regular paper, you could just black it out. Or with a regular label you could get out the scissors and cut it out.

What difference is it going to make if it's on a packing slip, they already have the information from the shipping label.

You can mail a letter without a return address, but not a package.

@tpotterco whether or not your address appears on the packing slip has nothing to do with the INFORM Act, it's something you can control in the settings when you print the packing slip.
Just click the "customize" link and make sure the Ship From Name and Address box is unchecked.
That being said, if/when you do meet the thresholds for the INFORM act requirements, eBay may provide that information to buyers either in confirmation emails and/or in the order details in their purchase history.
If/when that may be an issue, you'll want to read the information on this page very carefully to see if you qualify for an exception to provide only a partial address and if you do qualify, use the button on that page to request an exception.
