I would clean up$$ wise if I got paid for all the watchers I have.. It would be better than the dismal 1 or 2 sales a month i make now. Good thing I have a real job.

I view watchers as if they are the same as people on Marketplace who ask, "Is this still available?" Useless! lol

Watchers are usually just watchers. Sometimes we convert a watcher to a buyer, but I never count on it. There are a lot of people who seem they must watch for other reasons than wanting to actually buy an item (maybe they're keeping tabs on it because they have one to sell as well, or maybe they're just curious about it).

Yes it sure would be nice!, The whole watcher thing is misleading, It can be another seller trying to see if it sells at your price, because they have one, It can actually be a potential sale, but their waiting for a price drop, & it could be someone interested in the item & keeping it in mind, & a Myriad of other reasons, But it's basically useless unless it develops into an actual sale!

Some people view watchers as people who saw an item and want to buy it.
I view watchers as people who saw an item and didn't buy it.

Watchers are generally meaningless as far a sales go. We usually sell the items that have no watcher way before the one’s sitting there rotting on here. End the listing and sell similar.

I view them as other sellers waiting to see if you sell your item so they can price theirs accordingly or undercut me in price. That is another scenario along with your as well.

eBay is a "real" job. Just ask the IRS.

So let's say that there were still big department stores downtown in major cities like Cleveland, OH, or Pittsburgh, PA. Would you expect to be required to pay those stores for looking in their windows?
And I' m sure you know that many of your watchers are never going to be buyers. Some are just curious about how much your item sells for (or not) and some even have that same item and are wondering if they should list theirs, depending upon what price you get for yours.

I have watchers who will sometimes buy. Not all of my watchers but those with a limited budget who buy when they have money and chose which of the items they have watched they want and can afford to buy.
Not all of my buyers can afford to buy what they want, even if I make them an offer at a lower price.
Some of them seem to come through when business is slow.
Since there are many related items in my inventory, I am more likely to see type of watcher than people who are selling assorted "stuff" which has no common thread.
